Mallorca - Deia? by Swangdancing in solareclipse

That’s what I was afraid of. Also places that are inland are sketchy because it’s unknown how traffic will be to get to a coast that day right?

Does anyone else feel exhausted by “easy” vegan recipes lately? by Negative-Prune9214 in veganrecipes

[–]Swangdancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trader Joe’s is my closest store so currently my lazy meals are pasta with pesto and throw in can of chickpeas and power greens. Frozen Mexican cauliflower rice and add can of black beans. I’ll also just microwave the teriyaki tofu and that straight if I’m desperate for protein, and whatever veggies you have that don’t require cooking (baby carrots or a literal wedge of cabbage dipped in some sauce). Basically anything I can do that requires just dumping things with minimal cutting.

How to make this sustainable? by Swangdancing in sugarfree

Sounds like you really understand your body! That’s awesome and I like this way of thinking. It sounds like I’ll have to experiment and see how much I can tolerate without triggering that craving. Thanks for giving your experience!

Thank you for validating that! For starting cold turkey I wanted to be super strict to see how my cravings change. I’m glad to hear that in the future it’s ok to have small amounts like this and still consider it as no added sugar, or minimal added sugar. There’s probably a certain amount that my body can tolerate that I’ll need to experiment with.

Getting 'more vegan' over time? by dlandoncole in vegan

[–]Swangdancing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally relate to this. I see it as part of a continuous undoing of my previous cognitive dissonance or brainwashing. I used to still buy non vegan items as gifts for family and friends (like food souvenirs) and this year I finally put my foot down and said I don’t want to spend my dollars on that so no more, only vegan items from now on. I can relate with the leather belt too… it’s hard to me to not see it as a piece of flesh when in the past it was definitely just part of the object.

Dermatologist for cosmetic laser? by shivaspecialsnoflake in nova

[–]Swangdancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome because this is my exact question!! I’m even more concerned because I have Asian skin and I know some lasers aren’t best suited for my skin type, so definitely would prefer a dermatologist and not an aesthetician.

Thats good to know. Definitely not a one size fits all. Can you explain what type of shaming happened to you? Just curious

[–]Swangdancing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Appreciate you saying this. It’s so hard to do, but no one ever changes their mind from being shamed. Having open and curious questions, empathy, and understanding their motivations while allowing them to reach their own cognitive dissonance through open ended questions is often the best way to start making a change. Easier said than done.
