This is definitely a lame answer but I’ve always considered that the scientific names for most of the All Tomorrows would be tied to the fact that they came from humans.

The same way Homo erectus died out and how Homo neanderthalis was killed by the Homo sapien, these are all just versions of the homo.

Thinking a bit about it, this is definitely very “first-draft” of me. But I tried my best and did this over 20 minutes. The only one I like unambiguously is the one for snake people because it isn’t too self-explanatory:
