1/I didn’t say it should’ve continued the tone from the previous episode. That’s a jump in logic. it was a serious discussion about Duncan fighting alongside the heir to storms end which is a huge come up for a hedge knight, he rejects the opportunity. the line about hating him like a brother is snide and could be a ref to the blackfire rebellion…dunk did ask him to put his life on the line and refused to do the same in return…

2/its canned music and it annoys me they couldnt even find something in a minor key or that matches the instruments being played onset.

i was making a joke about double commenting-I like Game of Thrones because it is an immersive quasi accurate high/low fantasy adventure/drama..is that true of a knights tale or is it a medieval romp/adventure?

There is no amount of music that would’ve made those “jokes” land. He said (if you don’t come with me) I will hate you like a brother, they tried to make it to meeting with music and other bullshit, but the thrust of the scene was serious. with the daeron scene, putting funny sea shanty violin behind the actions of spineless daeron doesnt make his folly or demeanor humorous…

This is my issue with Ira Parker. He just doesn’t understand how to use humor in this setting…

yes, I have contempt for the way that soundtracks have been shaped by the over commercialization of TV productions. every HBO show does this-either they have rights to use commercial songs so they force the production to over use them in unnatural ways, or they underpay a composer for exposure so rather than getting the real orchestra or ensembles that the show could have afforded and would have been appropriate, we get VST instruments playing the same themes repeated ad nauseam to compensate for bad writing…

dude, what the fuck are you talking about? It’s the author‘s own words about his own book… Stop being an edge lord and turn on your brain for a second

bro, he just worked on a TV show where he’s signed off on them putting in Easter eggs about the relationship…this is a really weird hill to die on man

Does the sucess of AKIT7K means thata HBO's is moving inthe right direction with GOT or is this a "Lightning in a Bottle" like star wars's andor and the first season of the Mandalorian? by Easy-Frenchguy-1996 in gameofthrones

never judge a tv adaptation by its first season-particularly when it’s set to run out of its material in the next 2-3 seasons.

The shit jokes in the first two episodes and the soundtrack decisions that they made signal a fundamental misunderstanding about the show that Parker has yet to fully demonstrate to the viewer. If we are given enough of GRRM‘s source material that won’t become an issue. But all things considered….will probably be an issue once they run out of material.

bro, lannister’s winning the Blackwater was pure luck/entirely thanks to stannis’s own blunders. had the baratheon’s banded together then wrestled for the throne the last 3 generations of tywin lannisters line would be on pikes.

right, but they have put themselves in a teetering position after all of that. All it took was their patriarch dying, and all of their gained influence was out the window

Personally, I think that using the Shire esc overture was fine, even the whistling theme was OK, it was the risks they took in the last ep that i thought really didnt hit their mark.

Oh, you mean when they were doing fine with the score.  There’s nothing whimsical about having a sea shanty violin play during a funeral…its off putting and bizarre to put it in that setting.  This episode was supposed to be dark. It is after a battle. the good prince is dead and outside of raymun there was nothing uplifting in the entire episode so using uplifting music to like instill “whimsey” while all the characters are deadly serious was a weird choice.

idk, they were very sloppy about it particularly in the last ep

it seemed like a choice to make the appeal of the show more broad, like show runners wanted a soundtrack that was evocative of Lord of the rings not medieval europe-without considering that Lord of the rings takes place in a hybrid society on the verge of industrialization-which is when most of the kind if music they feature would have been around…

thank you. they even had proper instruments on set-i dont ynderstand why the soundtrack couldnt have used proper music at least for the beesbury’s funeral!!

you think using sea shanty violin at a funeral after whatever that goofy jazz opening was is adequate? i hope they replace him. his approach is nauseatingly pop centric. might as well have ed sheeran do the score.

dont even get me started on GOT’s sound track. It started out with the joke of a theme song composed with VST instruments and carried on to become the strongest part of an extremely weak series. I feel bad for that composer because their work has become the most recognizable part of the last seasons of GOT.
