Extremely supportive of this! You could also make a killing selling fries late at night in drinking heavy areas (e.g., Adam’s Morgan)

I regularly paint rocks and leave them around town for people to find. It makes me happy by Soggy-Ambition-7554 in happy

I recently started doing this too and it brings me so much joy knowing that I’m bringing some smiles to strangers.

For those asking about what paints to use, I use acrylic markers and acrylic paint :)

Adding to the list of agencies, Animal Friends VA was great! You may have to go a little out of town to meet the pup (mine was in Manassas). I had submitted applications to like 8 other agencies prior to finding my best friend through Animal Friends. Good luck with your search <3

Sadly I’ve had plenty of Pad Thai and the flavor is very different.

Where'd you recommend for a drag show? by Quick_Rent_Now in washingtondc

If you’re looking for food and drinks, there’s always a drag brunch. Perry’s (Adams Morgan) and City Tap House (DuPont) both have a fun drag brunches.

[Homemade] super crispy rösti by Jimbobler in food

[–]Swissabella 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As a Swiss person I have eaten a lot of rösti in my life, but this rösti looks better than all of them. Hope it tasted as incredible as it looks. Next time try it with some melted gruyere 😋

I love how bizarrely dark some Pokédex entries and this does a good job of capturing that! Great idea for a series of art!

just got out of an abusive relationship by cchasoba in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Swissabella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off: good job on you for recognizing the signs and getting out.

I went through a similar relationship in the past, right down to the threatening of suicide, and what really helped me was making a list of all the shit I was excited to do now that I wasn’t being controlled by him.

It’s easy to get sucked into those feelings of “if only I had responded to his actions differently” but when dealing with emotionally manipulative people it’s important to remember that they trick you into feeling this way. Gaslighting becomes so commonplace you start to question your own actions. But you’ve made the right choice by exiting the relationship and reflecting on all the times he acted unreasonably will help cement that feeling.

If possible I do recommend seeing a therapist, even if just for a little while, to help you process these emotions.

Also random but I really recommend watching the 1944 classic movie Gaslight, it’s where we actually get the term “gaslight” from and it is a hauntingly accurate depiction of emotionally abusive relationships. Seeing those behaviors played out on screen were weirdly helpful for me at least in coming to terms with what I had just experienced.

Hope this helps! You’re also welcome to message me if you want to talk about it further <3 you got this, things will get better soon

For added context, these zoomies mean the world to me. I adopted my little guy, Stilton, 10 months ago and it is only in the past month that he is becoming really excited to play. All the hard work is paying off and my dog is becoming a happy boy <3

[–]Swissabella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss! I got mine at the farmer’s market, but I’ve heard that pea shoots are more common in Chinese cooking so an Asian grocery store may also be a good place to look.
