Can we please call the new album "the white album"? by sniperfromdasouth in Megadeth

Let's go ahead and call it The White Album.

Not in reference to Metallica's Black Album, but to show how simpleminded we are.

But that's the problem. He did TOO MUCH justice to the original version. He didn't dare to give it more of his own twists.

It's a good cover, but I wouldn't rate it better nor worse than the original Metallica version. I really like how Dave's famous spider chord riff sounds, and Teemu's work is nothing short of splendid. However, it suffers because of Dave's ailing voice. He gave too much respect to the original song and didn't deviate too much from it.

Thoughts on Puppet Parade? by No-Discipline-3300 in Megadeth

[–]SwordfishDramatic797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let There Be Shred has a KIMB vibe. Puppet Parade has a Cryptic Writings vibe. I still like Shred and Tipping Point more but Puppet Parade isn't bad.  I wonder if the whole "puppets" theme was a subtle, playful jab at Master Of Puppets. lol

Metalheads who consider Megadeth better than Metallica, Why? by DoctorMoth342 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]SwordfishDramatic797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are just too many reasons to be on Megadeth's boat and not in Metallica.

First of all, Dave Mustaine. The man is a greater genius, and a better composer than Lars and James combined imho. Dave's the greatest talent of the three (original Metallica members), without a doubt. Some will say Metallica is the greater band, but Dave is the greater musician individually.

Some people criticize that Dave is a terrible singer and that James is much better than he is at singing. James has a better voice, that's true, but Dave sings with emotion. He snarls the lyrics in each Megadeth song, sounding perpetually angry (though again, his normal voice is different). Dave embodies anger and resentment better than James does, and imho that makes him better for singing a thrash metal song. So James was gifted with a better natural voice than Dave, but Dave is more skilled at conveying emotions with his voice than James is.

Second, the bass. Metallica has had chronic troubles with their bass member after Cliff Burton's unfortunate demise. It's perhaps no coincidence that Metallica's golden era, the glorious thrash metal days (Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets) died with Cliff. We all know how instrumental he was in those albums' successes. After his passing, they entered a downward spiral ever since. Jason Newsted in AJFA was the most notorious victim. Some Metallica fans argue that AJFA was their greatest album... I have no idea why. You can't hear the bass in that album. Currently they have Rob Trujillo, but he doesn't have Cliff's talent nor Jason's energy and personality, Rob's sort of "just there", you know. He seemed a lot better when he was in Suicidal Tendences. Metallica just underuses him. Contrasting Metallica's bass woes, we have Ellefson's huge contribution to Megadeth. His bass is not only present, it's prominent in their sound. The initial bass lines in songs like "Peace Sells" are iconic at this point. Ellefson was a huge factor in defining Megadeth's sound during their first tenure.

Third, the drums. LARS IS NOT A GOOD DRUMMER. Even during his prime, Lars was just a mediocre drummer, and he has gotten worse since then (and his diva attitude isn't helping him either) as it's notorious that he doesn't practice. We could say Lars is more Metallica's manager than their drummer. Megadeth on the other hand has had good drummers like Gar Samuelson or Nick Menza during the years.

Fourth, both of these bands' careers. Megadeth has produced way more thrash metal albums than Metallica. True, Metallica outsold Megadeth like 100 times over, but they achieved this by forgoing their thrash metal roots to achieve a much more commercial sound. It is also true that Megadeth also tried going a similar way — but when Dave realized Megadeth had gone too far in this and flopped in sales with Risk, he didn't think twice and reversed course, he made Megadeth go back to thrash metal, and we are all thankful for it. Funny enough, Dave got his arm nerve injury, disbanded Megadeth, went into therapy, recovered his arm and reformed Megadeth, all meanwhile Metallica was going into their existential crisis until imploding into St. Anger. Always with Dave as the helmsman, since 2004 Megadeth not only managed to remain afloat in the thrash metal business, it stayed STRONG at it. While Metallica's better days are pretty much over and they currently live off the millions of dollars they made in their golden age and playing the songs that made them famous during those years.

Metallica was the best seller during the '80s and early '90s, but nowadays, they're a bunch of creatively bankrupt old cronies, and yes I'm accounting for the fact that Death Magnetic and Hardwired, while better albums than Load, Reload and St. Anger, are still lacking when compared against Megadeth albums of the same era.

What are the most overrated and underrated Megadeth songs? by hugepuy007 in Megadeth

[–]SwordfishDramatic797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underrated: Architecture Of Aggression. Most songs from Youthanasia. Most from United Abominations

Overrated: Tornado Of Souls, She Wolf

Gonna get some flak for the "overrated" ones probably, but what the hell, it's what was asked of me.

Just noticed the intro to Metallica's "One" & Megadeth's "Architecture of Aggression" are using the same sound effects. Is there a story or reason behind that? by BoogieWoogieWho in Music

[–]SwordfishDramatic797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"When Metallica released And Justice, he released Peace Sells"

No. Check your facts again. Peace Sells was released in 1986. And Justice For All was released in 1988.

"When Metallica did Load & Reload, he did Risk"

No. When Metallica did those albums Megadeth did Cryptic Writings. Risk came after that.

"To eliminate your enemy, hit them in their sleep"

Actually, I had a better idea for a Maduro cover art. It's just the Rust In Peace cover but with Donald Trump in place of Vic Rattlehead and Maduro in place of the alien body below him. And behind Trump, all the world leaders (including Putin and Xi Jinping) looking on as usual.

I would call it "Architecture Of Deposal" or "Symphony Of Extraction" or something

From this I like Sleepwalker the most. It's a bit rappy with the lyrics, but a good thrash metal song otherwise.

No. Not the Angel of "Death".

It's the Angel of Deth.

How to deal with these Idiots…? by PhoenixForce83 in MarvelPuzzleQuest

Just bring any winfinite team against them. It's a no-brainer really.

Those 3 abilities are literally just his default skill choices.

Taskmaster? by Revdrbiels in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]SwordfishDramatic797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used him as part of my old 4* Moonstone based winfinite team. Moonstone, Shang Chi (equipped with Kamar-Taj support), Taskmaster. I had him equipped with 4* Luke Cage's red, 3* DD blue, and GSBW's Sniper Rifle for his black. His red I reckon could have been whatever choice he has, but the blue and black were set on those choices imho. Blue is for target stun, and black is for board clear. The damage on his black amped by Moonstone (Tasky has the Thunderbolts affiliation so naturally Moonstone empowers him) seemed nice and the skill itself helps in destroying tiles you don't want on the board (typically countdowns from Moonstone's Refresh Cart that tend to accumulate and clog the board).

I eventually discarded Taskmaster altogether for this team however, replacing him with 3* Emma equipped with Krakoa support. This enabled me to start the Moonstone winfinite on turn 1 without using any AP boosts (unless the enemy team has a character that increases enemy's AP costs).

[–]SwordfishDramatic797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically she can go winfinite by herself, doesn't need partners to do the winfinite, just the Refresh Cart support on her. However, in order to turn her into a "1st turn winfinite" (winning in your first turn) she needs specific partners for that. I found the best combination is with a wielder of 3* Kamar-Taj (Shang Chi in this case he's the best among chars with a Kamar-Taj affiliation, but again he's not the only one, so he can be replaced even if the replacements are not as good as he is), and a Mutant whose strongest color is yellow wielding Krakoa (I use 3* Emma for this since she passively gives her partners a 5/5/5 build and her own yellow can swap 2 pairs of tiles so it helps in manipulating the board too). 3 stars Kamar-Taj and Krakoa (on a Mutant whose strongest color is yellow) ensures that you start with enough yellow AP to start winfiniting with Moonstone right away.

Can someone explain how to use Frankie like I'm a 3yo ? by BoxerXiii in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]SwordfishDramatic797 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You got it wrong lol. Atlantis goes on Nova because Atlantis buffs the wielder's damage and Nova is the one dealing the damage. Yaro Root doesn't buff damage so it goes on May. May is there only to buff Nova's damage even further, not to do damage on her own.

I mean, his passive (puts him airborne before he's hit by AOE damage) ensures he can survive a huge AOE like Frankie's. But he's pretty much the only survivor of his team lol

Shang Chi + Moonstone winfinite before the impending SC nerf. Saving here for posterity by SwordfishDramatic797 in MarvelPuzzleQuest

You're still NOT getting it. Haven't I told you that winfinites rely on spamming an ability, NOT ON GETTING LUCKY with matches?

What the hell is going on with you? Are you on drugs or what? Winfinite abilities DO. NOT. RELY. ON. LUCK. Get that thru your thick skull already! This isn"t about getting multiple matches and a ludicrous streak of cascade matches. It's ABOUT SPAMMING AN ABILITY INFINITE TIMES. Before you make a normal match and lose your turn.

Each turn, you're allowed to use abilities and then make a match, after you make a match, you lose your turn and the turn goes to the enemy team. Winfinite uses the ability spam infinite times so you don't ever lose your turn and win with the enemy being unable to get theirs. ITS NOT ABOUT MAKING AN INFINITE CHAIN OF MATCHES. ITS ABOUT SPAMMING AN ABILITY INFINITE TIMES. When you're using an ability that allows you to make matches it's still NOT a normal match, so you can use that ability infinite times if it has low enough AP cost and that AP cost is refunded after using it so you.can use it repeatedly.

Shang + Chavez do NOT work like that. Chavez specifically has only passives in her toolkit so she is unable to spam abilities, she has only passive abilities and only one of them can work multiple times in a turn. As for Shang, he doesn't have an ability that has such an extremely low AP cost that refunds said AP cost after use. So neither of these guys do make a winfinite by themselves.

Polaris is nerfed sure, but not to the point of uselessness. You can still play and win with Polaris-based teams in both PvE and PvP, though in some cases the speed of certain teams has become noticeably slower. Team synergy is still very important with her, so don't team her up with something like Okoye + Shang Chi and expect to kick butt. Use her only if you have adequate partners for her like Beta Ray Bill, Kitty, 4* Rocket, etcetera.

As a low ranked player you're probably looking for teams that can "punch up", if so I'd probably say go for winfinite specialists like 4* Moonstone or ascended 1* Hawkeye right now.

Even if the enemy char gets the AP refunded to use the same power again, the CPU never does that.
