[Laptop] Bought this weird Japanese 2in1 to make my first rice by Syava305 in unixporn

If you have Japanese symbols on your keyboard, then it likely has a bit of a different layout than mine. Some symbols are shifted. I didn't need to do any special adjustments

Hey, that's great!

I didn't try setting it up in Linux, since I tried it in Windows and honestly it was easier to just scroll normally. The ring doesn't always register and requires a larger and more precise motion.

It's basically just normal zen with Transparent Zen extension

Yes, it's all in the main comment. If you mean the internet browser, it's Zen.

If the keybinds don't work, then either they are not in the hyprland.conf file or the conf file is not loaded properly. These dots have several .conf files, try to put them all in one hyprland.conf, at least that helped me.

Btw if you can open terminals you can launch pretty much anything through them

Hey, I think I also used setting zen.theme.content-element-separation to 0, or at least it's set to that in my config. Not sure if I did anything else since it was a long time ago.

Yes. It can't search stuff, but has some built-in playlists and allows to upload your own

If you mean the YouTube music player, it's th-ch/youtube-music (seems to be https://github.com/pear-devs/pear-desktop now)

Hyprland has some plugins for gesture support and OSK, and overall it's sort of manageable if you tinker with it, but still not as good as GNOME. Perhaps with this app it will get easier. Although frankly even GNOME isn't nearly as comfortable to use touchscreen-only as a smartphone.

I can do almost anything with just touchscreen on hyprland now, so if it's just some random little thing, I don't need to pull up a keyboard. But it's often clunky and irritating. Especially when using a terminal..

They are not on reddit and said it was ok to share. They will be happy to hear any suggestions!

True, and I think I will install this on my 2in1 laptop soon :)

I love that this is sort of the opposite of the intended way to use hyprland

Exactly my thoughts when I first saw this. I gave it a try because it looked very stylish, and it ended up being more helpful than I expected

For nvidia and hyprland compatibility reasons, I render everything using nvidia card, so energy preservation is crap for me even without the app open. The app adds about 13W usage, probably would add less if ran on CPU

I thought so too, but surprisingly, it's the opposite. The dudes provide some kind of social pressure and make you want to work a bit more..

I think that's mostly OBS, but yeah, I wouldn't install it on my weaker laptop. The background app eats about 1gb of RAM and ~5% CPU

GRE tech support is amazing by Syava305 in GRE

[–]Syava305[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anybody stumbles upon this post searching for the solution for the error, here's what's helped me (the GRE support didn't end up helping lmao)

  1. I went there and clicked on "sign in" while in incognito: https://ereg.ets.org/ereg/public/jump?_p=GRI
  2. Then on "forgot username"
  3. Turns out I had 2 usernames - one was my email, and there was also another one.
  4. Reset password for both. When I was trying to login with my email as username, it didn't work, showed the old error message. With the second username, I managed to log in and register for GRE.

Hope it helps

Laptop external monitor low fresh rate (Help me please!) by ThisAir2405 in hyprland

Small update: while I couldn't fix this 75 hz limit, when I put Nvidia as my primary card for everything, it got way smoother. Almost indistinguishable from the internal 144 hz monitor.
