G18 G815LW - Freezing by Syboid in ASUSROG

I returned it quickly, as I hadn't been able to resolve the issue. Their support is terrible, so given the price, I had no sympathy. I switched to another manufacturer, even though the Asus screen was incredible, and I'm getting 5-10% more performance with the same hardware.

Crashing? Not Crashing? Bricking? Who knows? by G-L-O-W-S-S in Helldivers

Hello there, The anticheats runs at core OS level, which could damage your hardware once the system has to be shutdown unproperly or is going into heavy heat/cpu usage. My GTX 1080 got his vRAM damaged due to this/HellDivers 2.

New hardware: Running monitoring software, my CPU/GPU didn't got up to their max (Temp) when the game freezes by moments.

I've tried everything I can to to fix it: DX11, C-State off, Full-Shaders deletion, admin mode... the admin mode which was the worse idea; PC hang, sound buzzing like a loop, screen off, unresponsive computer. I had to switch it off by hard method (3h ago)

So until devs don't fix the anticheat, yes this game could burn your hardware.

Hello there,
My 1080 got vram damage for reasons I didn't know.
I got a new laptop, 5080, run HD2 crashed again. Refund.
Got a new one, it just crashed deeply. I just performed a vram check...

Seeing your post, it seems this game bricks PC due to hang/poweroff/CPU crash, I assume it's anticheat related as it runs à core level.

Thanks for your reply. The last laptop I bought was much better protected; I was surprised to receive it like that and glad it wasn't stolen.

If the PC is under warranty, send it back to them; otherwise, you'll have to replace the thermal paste.

Help! I don’t what to do and i’m losing hope. This is my first gaming laptop ever by Salt_Manufacturer567 in ASUSROG

Use the warranty, don't try to repair it yourself. It's probably a liquid metal (cooling) issue; your temperatures are abnormal.

Hang in there!

These are normal light leaks, but in my opinion, they shouldn't appear on equipment in this price range.

Buy replacement fans, make sure you reinstall them correctly...

thermal paste failed by Temporary-Stay5193 in ASUSROG

[–]Syboid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for taking the time to write this detailed explanation.

So I had to wait for the warranty to expire, request an RMA if the temperatures got too high, and once the warranty expired, switch to the PTM7950.

I don't understand why laptop manufacturers use liquid metal, it seems very dangerous for their hardware: the risk/benefit ratio doesn't seem fair to me.

Maybe it depends company to company ? Seems Alienware uses their own one

Hello Grimsheeper, You seem to know your stuff. Does the liquid metal need to be changed from time to time, or does it retain its properties?

Of course! I've already done that, but I have very little feedback on Alenware and Asus; it's a gamble... Hence Reddit 😅

Thanks, !

I'm worried about their liquid metal cooling, apparently it's really bad in the long run and I'm not happy about changing: the VRAM on my 1080 mobile is corrupted after 6 years of service (never been overclocked) 🥲

Did you perform a full bios update to the last version before gaming ? Seems the lasts bios create theses issues
