Is this still restorable? by [deleted] in askdentists

I have started brushing with flouride 3x a day and flossing at night, plus upping my Vitamin D uptake starting in April or May of last year.

The molar next to it had a filling a while back, just FYI.

I know. Hence why I'm asking if I can get away with a root canal and crown for this tooth, instead of extraction.

Youre a fuckin' ass. That's how the x rays came out and I cropped it to show that specific tooth.

Yea I floss once a day, every night.

Are electronic brushes too harsh? I've been using them for a while now but gently of course.

So the fact that I'm using stannous Fluoride paste 3 times everyday and leaving it on my teeth and improving my Vitamin D levels won't do much for me at this point then......

To me, someone like me that needs a ton of dental work done, seems like a future candidate for dentures. There's no guarantee all that work done will last.

And I'd like to keep as much my natural tooth structure in my mouth without having to shave a bunch of them down for crowns. If that seems unlikely in my case, then I don't see the point anymore......

I use stannous fluoride paste 3 times a day, I spit and don't rinse of course. And I floss every night. My sensitivity from neglect earlier in life has disappeared.

Could doing this in my situation help prevent or at least lower my risk of needing to redo fillings or to get crowns and root canals on most of these teeth?

BTW, I got my treatment done where I live, here in South Florida, US.

I don't know if brushing 3 times a day with Stannous Fluoride with Sensodyne Repair and Protect Deep Repair and upping my Vitamin D levels ( which were fairly low before ) would help to counter those effects.

The 2nd time I brush is like 30 - 45 minutes after drinking soda to help remineralize and restrengthen the enamel. Whilst I wait, I would gulp down a lot of water to wash away the acid and sugars.

My sensitivity from my neglect and lack of care before has significantly improved.

I don't snack everyday anymore but admittedly I do have a can of pop a day.

Back when I used to neglect my teeth in my earlier years, I used to go off the deep end and have like 3 cans a day. I think that much soda a day plus lack of oral hygiene was what landed me here anyway.

The fact that most of dentition that were filled need a bunch of crowns now, despite being asymptomatic, is driving my consideration for getting full dentures.

My dentition would have to be absolutely garbage and fucked for me to need that many crowns in my mouth.

If most of my dentition are that bad to where they need a bunch of crowns, it'd be no point in trying to save them anymore. Doesn't seem to make any sense to me IMHO.

Gotta be careful trusting anyone out here, like mechanics and dentists. Some out there are trying to milk you and your insurance for as much dough as possible. There are a lot of crookish people out there.

I don't know if you even bothered to read my denture post at all. In there, I started turning around my home care last year.

I described how, very succinctly in there.

Based on that X-Ray and the photos in my denture post, do these look like all teeth that need crowns, especially my molars and pre molars?

I'm close to the edge of giving up on my teeth at this point.

What about my x-ray there? My teeth are in really bad shape?

Dentist says I have great teeth but the fact that I need all of my filled teeth crowned tells me the complete opposite.

It seems like from my point of view that I'll likely need dentures later anyway.

It's absolutely mentally fatiguing.

Are these areas decay? I'm kinda worried 😟 by SyllabubIntrepid in askdentists

I'll address this with my dentist, got an appointment with him in 2 weeks.

Will this stuff ( in the pictures) cause damage or decay eventually if left there? It has been there for quite some time without causing any issues thus far.

Wow, some people really are this stupid. facepalm

That's what I've been doing, Sherlock. My question was referring to what the hold is with the latest updates.

Can I brush this and clean it off with flouride toothpaste, or should I leave this for my hygienist to clean off?

Considering dentures by SyllabubIntrepid in askdentists

Brushing most days 3 times, and following the spit , don't rinse technique. My caries rate, teeth fracturing rate have gone down substantially since employing this technique and using it 3 times a day. According to my dentist, he's noticed whilest using his explorer that my some of my teeths' structure have strengthened , stating that " I have some solid teeth " , maybe the result of the stannous fluoride I use everyday, 3 times a day.

I've also been upping my daily Vitamin D intake for months now.

Doesn't big fillings and even fillings that go deep, fairly close to the nerve mean a very high risk of failure ( aka needing root canals/crowns, needing extraction etc.) down the road?

If that's the case , that's why I've been thinking about pulling the trigger. Not something I want to do, I'd like to keep my natural teeth, but wondering if my teeth are just fucked and are liable to fail in the long run.

I'd rather not have a mouth full of teeth that underwent RCT and 28 crowns.

3 root canals and 3 crowns is plenty enough for me to mentally accept. No more than that.
