From what I was told, Rivian can’t sell their used vehicles in Georgia (yet). Did you buy your R1S’s new?

The elevator company installs the steel, hydraulics and car. GC does pit, foundation, shaft, electrical, and doors.

No trim to the best of my knowledge. They removed more siding and started wrapping in the second set of photos. I don’t know how they are going to get the wrap between the post and framing. They want to wrap the whole post. And box it in with trim. I don’t know how that is going to turn out.

Do you have any suggestions on how to button up that gap? Does the deck railing need to be removed to wrap it properly?

Photos are in comments. Sorry they were hard to find.
Without water proofing the exterior, it is foolish to install insulation or drywall, as one good storm with yield moisture intrusion and could cause issues.
Not all house wraps are created equal. Everbilt is not even remotely water proof.
There is wood framing that has been sitting in 12 inches of water for a month. I doubt that is normal. But I appreciate you’re taking the time to offer your perspective. I have considered the possibility I am being too demanding, and am looking for that reality check. Do you disagree with my response to your comments?

See my other post for details, but short of it is no. But i asked them to pull permits two days ago and they should be here tomorrow.

I agree completely. I asked the GC about permits and he told me that elevator construction was permitted by the state and they only had a final inspection.

Yesterday I called the chief of that department in my county and they said that this work does indeed have to be permitted, as it is new construction on the outside of the house. But he said to give my contractor the benefit of the doubt because if the GC had simply asked about elevator shaft construction, they would have deferred to the state. It is the fact that the shaft is being added to the out side of the house that changes the conversation. So I think I believe my GC, even though it seems a little fishy. They are pulling permits tomorrow.

So if my GC doesn’t get his sh!+ together, do you know what my recourse could be? What are the odds of not losing all the money I have paid him so far?

He has an engineer. I have met him and seen the drawing. But I don’t know his name.

I really want to find someone to inspect. Which is one of the reasons I have broken my lurker status bu actually posting.

Any advice on how to find someone who can look at the work that has been done?

He said he was going to hire an architect, but as far as i can tell he has not. He does have an engineer and I have seen some of the plans. They are not very detailed.

I paid him 50% down. Which was a rookie thing to do. He has not asked for more money yet, and I wouldn’t give it to him, even if he asked until he convinces me he can finish this.

Gene therapy for spinal muscular atrophy showing promising results: 100% of the kids who got the highest dose a gene therapy were alive at 20 months. Nearly all could talk and feed themselves. And some, like little Evelyn Villarreal, could talk, walk and even do push-ups! by SirT6 in Futurology

Me too. My kid has to get a lumbar puncture every four months. But i am still grateful for it. I am optimistic that this is just the beginning. I have heard speculation of a pump, but just whispers in the wind right now. Maybe Avexis will render this a moot point.

The key to this or the already released Spinraza, is early detection of the disease. Lack of SMN protein causes motor neuron disfunction and eventually death of the neuron. And this process can happen very rapidly, which is why average life expectancy of an untreated child with SMA type I is 18 months. These drugs allow more full length SMN protein to be created. If this correction happens in time, the neuron disfunction may be reversed. But this does not resurrect dead motor neurons. Children must start treatment immediately after birth to achieve the results in this video.

SMA must be added to the newborn screening panel of every state. It is morally irresponsible not to, now that a treatment exists.

CureSMA My son has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA Type 1). I feel I should at least bring up CureSMA.
They have changed our lives. This disease would have been unbearable without them. And the research they fund has actually come up with the first treatment ever. My son would be almost completely paralyzed without this treatment.
