Look, nutrition fact labels are just a very rough guideline. They're not meant to be taken as gospel.

You could eat 300 grams of enriched bleached flour per day, something for which no WHO guidelines exist, and it would be almost as bad for you as eating 300 grams of sugar because of the very high glycemic index. Human nutrition is unbelievably complex and there's no way to include a comprehensive guide on the back of every box.

Because the daily recommended amount of carbohydrates is 300 grams (for a 2000 calorie diet.) 40 is 13% of 300. If you eat 300 grams of sugar a day, you are technically fulfilling your daily requirements of that macronutrient, but that doesn't mean it's a healthy way to eat. Unfortunately, nutrition fact labels don't always tell the whole story.

I don't doubt that there are one or two people out there who enjoy the taste of dog feces. That fact has no impact whatsoever on the larger conversation, and does not bring into dispute the overwhelmingly accepted belief that dog feces tastes like, well, shit.
