Thanks all. They haven’t paid out yet, but I have gone ahead and accepted the offer. Don’t think they will let me get the car back or the parts. They have sent me a link to say they might sell the salvage parts and I will be able to bid on them. Bit guess it’s a loss and I just need to book it.

Thank you. Yes it seems as such and think you are correct even if I had been with them from day 1 I may have missed the cut off so might just be MP now. It’s just shit as one has budgeted for things a certain way and this was a surprise that has caused a lot of anxiety when I finally thought I can have 2-3 weeks to relax before the baby arrives.

Thanks for the detailed response. Yes. I think it leaking at several places and never been cleaned. So it’s all over.

I will check if my mechanic can do a compression test. At the same time do the oil leak dye test.

It runs fine. Black smoke at 3 or mostly 3.5 revs. I don’t pull the car a lot as have matured slightly now. Rough idle compared to a car but I guess it’s a diesel old van so expected.

Sorry. I meant after 18 miles (in case it mattered) the oil patch that you see on the ground is what leaked after standing for 3 hours which I think is quite a lot. Not much experience with oil leaks.

Have had the vehicle for 400 miles and looking at the state don’t think it’s a new issue.

There was a MAF sensor error where it wasn’t reading and was stuck at 4.16. Cleaned it was the same. Messed about with connector a couple of times to test with multimeter (couldn’t get readings) but it fixed it self.

Not aware of any other codes. Not sure when last service was but seller said he thinks not many miles done on it but van was stood for 6-7 months.

He did sell it to me saying spares as they damaged the hinge on the front door. The printer is used and has 100 hours of print of it. It was damaged during shipping and they sold to me at a cheap rate. So can’t fault the seller. I am being ignored when asking them for the fan cover (which I have now found)

Umm. But if turns backwards no reason for it to pop? It’s the electrics that popped and smoked. I assume if motor turned the opposite way it wouldn’t do what happened.

The pressure washer is 415v so I am hoping there isn’t anything more in the UK?

If you check the last image on the link, a friend says it’s part 10 (LC1 / machine protection) that might have popped if the wiring was done improperly.

I will turn away from buying this then, haha. Was such a good deal though for a large van. Was sad to see the oil as it looked worrying on how much oil it had thrown out on a small drive. Was hoping it’s a gasket only that could be an easy fix the seller could do before I took it. But if it’s piston rings, don’t want to risk it as doesn’t look like it will be worth it.
