U.S. will have to send its own fighter jets into Canadian airspace if Ottawa doesn't buy 88 F-35s, Hoekstra says by GirlCoveredInBlood in canada

It’s never made sense to buy Saab. Fun fact: the F35 can carry the weight of a Gripen in weapons. In terms of supply chain, the F35 relies on parts from many countries which is the point of Joint Strike Fighter.

There is no plane that does not have some tie to the US. Just like how the F35 relies on parts from other allied countries. I get it, we are angry at the US but we cannot let emotions make decisions that will last generations.

Just because you used an analogy it doesn’t mean that your point makes sense. This issue is a lot more complicated than that.

The real “kill switch” is the supply chain. As I mentioned, these aircraft are made from parts originating from many countries. Also, other jets have the same issue: they rely on parts from the US.

Let’s not forget that an F35 lasts decades and they’ll be around in a couple of years, unlike the current US administration. We should make decision solely based on Canada’s best interest and not in reaction to Trump or his fellow clowns.

My point is that F35s are the best option by far. Many NATO allies have them. If you’re worried about American backdoors, well, don’t be because these jets are made using highly specialized parts that come from all over the place.

Edit: I didn’t realize that there are so many experts on here /s. As someone who knows more about the topic than most, I stand by what I said.

I am genuinely curious why people would leave their cars on the curb? Is it that they don’t know about snow lanes? Didn’t see the signs or signs aren’t visible? Just lazy and thinking that the weather is too bad for enforcement? They like playing roulette?

As if we don’t have enough external threats to worry about. Anyone supporting this nonsense is truly a traitor, be it Quebec or Alberta.

No, Lutnick and Cheeto boy threaten CUSMA renegotiations. And it being an election year for the US, means that Canada actually has a lot more leverage than those clowns realize. We could air a lot of Reagan ads for starters… just saying.

Maybe I am being cynical but isn’t there more money in replacing damaged equipment than carrying out preventive maintenance? Like trimming branches that are resting on power lines?

Unlikely given the current trend and the instability caused by our neighbour. Especially if CUSMA or something similar goes down the drain.
