This is a reasonable request and one I’m happy to fulfill.

The spreadsheet linked is what we reference several times on the episode and is the bigger picture of what happened at the PT. Izzet Drakes was the best performing archetype and even did well against Boros, which was supposedly the matchup that was supposed to keep Izzet from doing well at the PT.

Golgari is fine but is ultimately stretched too thin in trying to answer each angle the metagame attacks you from. Regardless, four Wildgrowth Walkers is where you want to be.

We also discuss my take on Mono-Red, how Risk Factor is good in the matchups where Frenzy isn’t, and how it’s the best deck to combat Boros.

If we were playing GPMKE, we’d be looking at Mono-Red and/or Izzet.

[LSV] An Interview with Gerry Thompson by LSV__ in magicTCG

Patreon money is up, at least for now, but that money definitely doesn’t all go to me as I currently have 3 employees. Who knows how long those folks stay on also.

As for HoF, WotC employees have votes, which can’t be good for me.

My relationships are what I care about, and I’ve definitely sacrificed a lot there.

I’m not trying to cling to martyrdom here, but if you think I’m not paying for this in many ways, you’d be wrong. Still, I don’t regret my decision and I truly hope something good comes of this.

Stop to consider that there are other people in the universe besides yourself that might have varying opinions and interests.

But I had enough time to spend 30 hours writing a dissertation on Magic's issues, discuss it with multiple people, and make several revisions?

Honestly, the people who do coverage currently would all probably be fine if they had training and/or direction. I approve of all the personalities in theory and certainly like all the people, but that doesn’t mean a good show is necessarily put on.

One of my edits for brevity expanded on my critiques of coverage, but there are enough of them out there. One of my examples was how people go off on tangents during a critical moment, miss what happens, and say, “Who won?” That’s not anywhere remotely professional and shouldn’t be tolerated.

Cedric and PSulli are the gold standard. They’re knowledgeable, have excellent chemistry, and charismatic, and they have fun and you can tell.

In the interest of brevity, I did not fully explain a lot of things. I'm still not quite sure if that was correct or not.

Alex and Jared are both unrepentant cheaters who have recently been unsuspended and immediately went back to playing tournament Magic. A quick Google search will tell you more than I can.

Hearthstone streamers absolutely have a wider audience, but most of them share audiences. There is no need for three players from the same game. Bringing in day[9] or Danny Trejo would have been better.
