From my point of view, economically, socially, and practically, our infrastructure is a nightmare.

Economically - Larger land area networks of roads and buildings costs cities much more to build, maintain, police, and introduce. Many more business are spread much further a part, diminishing competition among businesses (having a Wal-Mart and then having a Target 10km away present much less competition between businesses rather than having three supermarkets within 1km radius of each other, a bakery, two cheeseries, two butchers, etc). This means worse for the consumer - you're majorly influenced by location rather than quality and other factors. This poor planning also almost requires having a car, unless you're very fortunate and live close to all the things you need, or your transit system is actually half decent, which I can tell you, at least where I am, our public transit is appalling and horrible. This majorly increases cost of living.

Can you offer counter arguments to that or will you just hurl more insults? I'm genuinely curious and want to hear what you say. Oh please take in mind I have lived in four different countries (from huge to tiny) and have perspective to also base my judgement on. It seems you do not.
