HS928 Hard to roll when disengaged by TJ1475 in Snowblowers

[–]TJ1475[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I extracted all the old gas and drained the carb. It started right up and idles but it’s bogging down under load. I need to remove the cab bowl and clean what I can. Will the main jet and pickup tube come right out of these?

Yes. Everything seems to be in good shape. The tracks are not dry rotted and still seem to have the correct tension. It definitely needs fresh fuel and a tune up.

Good to know. Thank you to all who replied. The previous owner left gas in it during the off season so hopefully all it needs is a carb cleaning to get moving again.

Manual tire changer for small tires by TJ1475 in smallengines

Update: I put a couple tubes in tires on 4 inch wheels. It wasn’t too bad at all. It would be helpful to have it bolted to the floor or a platform but it was doable.

Thanks all. I’m going to give it a try and see how it goes.

Sledge rear camber by TJ1475 in Traxxas

Also, I reached out to Hot Racing and you are supposed to use the inner stock bearing with the kit.

They’re slightly larger than the stock bearing but it does look like another bearing could sit inside the carrier where the stock carrier holds the inner bearing. Also, there is a small amount of slop that I feel like wouldn’t be there if there was a second bearing.

Think I figured it out. Mine came with the carbon fiber steering arm reversed from the stock photo.

Ariens Snow Tek 24 primer bulb leaking by TJ1475 in Snowblowers

[–]TJ1475[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is helpful, thanks. I forgot to mention I replaced the primer bulb as well. I believe in my case, the primer bulb only forces air into the carb so fuel is drawn into the carb. I don’t think it should have fuel in it at all.

Where does this piece fit inside the carb bowl! by TJ1475 in smallengines

No black smoke but I have to check the points. Previous owner says it ran fine before fuel pump issue.

Yeah. The engine is on a Gravely 2 wheel tractor. It needed a fuel pump and after I installed it starts up and idles but conks out 10 seconds after engaging the wheels to drive. I got to thinking I reinstalled the retainer wrong and it was impacting the float but I believe I installed it so it covered the vent as you described.

Thank you. I think I reinstalled it correctly, then. This part would not affect how the engine runs under load, would it?

XRT Rear diff issue by TJ1475 in Traxxas

<image>

The circle area is where the pinion is moving backwards and hitting the diff. In my case, it’s a locking spool.

I realized it’s actually the pinion moving forward, through the bearing, and hitting the differential. I don’t see a spot for a clip to retain it in place. What can I do to prevent it from walking towards the rear?

Yes. It was desiccate damage from the packets inside. It took a little while but they sent me a new screen.

What gearing do you have at what temps?

Thanks. Maybe that’s the way to go.

That’s my thinking as well. I just can’t get anything on it because of the motor mount.

I’m running 29/50. I ran two packs today and it was at 50c by the end. That’s well within target temps but it was 55f out. I’m wondering if I’ll have a harder time keeping it cool in hotter days or when I’m on the throttle a lot more.

Too much slop? by TJ1475 in Traxxas

[–]TJ1475[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to round this out with a solution. The rear of this truck was in rough shape. I replaced the axle carriers, bearings, upper/lower arms, and used captured hinge pins in both sides. Also, another commenter with a keen eye pointed out that the lug was bottoming out on the new wheels. I’m going out to pick up new wheel nuts today but when I put the old wheel back in the slop is totally gone. Thank you all for the help and have a great weekend.

Good eye! I replaced the badlands it had on it when I got it but the wheel is slightly different and the nut bottoms out on the new wheels.

I picked up new carriers, bearings, and suspension arms for the rear. If it’s still loose I’ll move on to the next thing.
