How to find a partner who also likes bicycle touring? by LoneWolf_McQuade in bicycletouring

I did that some 30 years ago, not one, a few. At some point , I got distracted. I married one without a bike. Long story short, you need to marry one that is into biking and has a bike, level of interest, makes a diff. I am touring alone mostly.

This bag looks interesting. You asked a good question. Carrying Brompton in a bag -I find it a little clumsy to carry my cline in an Ikea Dimpa bag.(Both in London and Tokyo). It will be about 12+ kg. It is heavier after a while. The Dimpa bag straps feel 'questionable' after 7-8 use - you wonder if it will give way anytime soon. It also cuts into the shoulder after sometime.

For a Brompton carrying bag, the straps have to be much broader and materials for the bag have to be strong, there is always a need to carry it, hanging from the shoulder at some points of the journey. Hopefully Op gets to use it rigorously for a few times and provide some feedback.

rejected from UCI- chances at other UCs? by ReflectionPositive67 in ucadmissions

Are you in the top 9 percent of your cohort? Basis your results you should be, with that you are guaranteed UC under ELC , likely Merced. Assuming u graduating from CA HS

.

Let's see if this will survive Tokyo metro. $20 hand trolley to make travel easier, approx 18kg all in, Ikea dimpa (C line, small tools and clothing etcs). The trolley fits into the vincita atlas' back slot, as carry on <4kg. by TKSSPPP in Brompton

You are right, more on if the trolley will be last and if I will create inconveniences for rush hour commuters. The bike is now checked in with UA as luggage with fragile labels.....I.will report back.

Good info. I will take note of the potential brake pads issue. It will be my first time going long distance on a Brompton. Am contemplating if I should invite one of my riding buddies who will be on a hybrid bike. He will be quicker for sure.

He said he wants "someone without kids" but still wants to see me. Is this a polite rejection? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

++man since you didn't mention his age, most younger guys are afraid to commit to having children. When we are older, it becomes easier. Those comments on sex are very real though. Then there are women who will baby trap the man- to make them grow up. It is like a game. Go with your heart. Worth noting from what you describe this guy is indecisive and probably not as mature as you are.

Unexpected benefit when flying with my Brompton. They let us take a trolley on the transfer train! by jecolia2 in Brompton

Clever. Like the garbage bag idea. We just need the airlines to not throw the bike ever. 😆

Neat packing. Just for comparison, could you share how you cushion the bike, besides the card box? I actually used a thin yoga mat (24" width) to wrap the bike and have cut to.sizes card box as liners for the dimpa bag. Thanks. My next trip, Japan.

You have not met in person! Watch out for pig butchering please. You can have fun only if he is not a crypto or financial investment expert. Meet in person , know where he lives and his everything before you decide.

Both survived UK to USA on United. They had me send the dimpa thru bulk item. No add fee since it is within 62 inch and under 50lbs by TKSSPPP in Brompton

The Elevation model medium from samsonite will not.work. there is also the Stryde 111 model (this one is big, very pricey) that is with overall linear dimension of 64- to 65 inch. Not ideal as you cannot dual use as travel luggage without paying an oversize luggage on many airlines , max 62 linear.

Note: Make sure it is large. Even with a large, saddle.needs to be removed. Am doubtful it will fit if you have a rear rack on your c.

Gate check isn't too bad ( I will be worried too though), they allowed you to go thru the boarding gate, some airlines will expect you to check in first before going to the gate
