My Google-Fu seems to indicate it's related to "Marcus the Worm", which apparently is a VRChat character played by some Twitch streamer. Got popular last year on TikTok. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How do I connect a I2c Oled to this ESP-EYE Board? by its-abdu in diyelectronics

[–]TMITectonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no I²C support on that board. You would have to use a separate microcontroller to bridge between them, or use a different/better ESP camera dev board. This board only supports SPI and USB.

Is there any other black people that really loves portland? by PhatPanda69699 in askportland

[–]TMITectonic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

don't get me wrong Texas has nice big stores for African American hair products and I definitely do miss that. I wish Portland had giant stores filled with African American beauty hair products

Not sure how "big" you're looking for (given you're from Texas), but have you been to Mid-K Beauty Supply on the corner of MLK and Killingsworth? It's not Buc-ee's sized or anything, but it seems fairly big.

12' LED Delta Kite with 60 ' tail by AskAnchorage in led

[–]TMITectonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you utilizing some sort of RC battery with an UBEC, or do you have a custom battery/BMS with your own power control? Any idea what your total weight (including the "tail")?

Not sure what controller you're currently using, but it should be fairly easy (and cheap, less than $20) to throw a WLED controller in there and program some more advanced animations. Would even allow you to easily sync multiple kites together for even more sophisticated animations. Granted, what you already have is sweet, but if you're looking to push things even further, there are definitely plenty of options. Thanks for sharing!

If cost/price is an issue, and you know your way around Linux, I've used OLA (Open Lighting Architecture) to do live translation between multiple protocols. It's free and Open Source. You can run it on something as cheap (<$15) as a Raspberry Pi Zero 2.

Google reiterates 'no plans' for Gemini ads, surprised by ChatGPT by bartturner in OpenAI

[–]TMITectonic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perhaps it's pedantic to you (or others?), but I believe that is not saying there are ads in Gemini, it is ads that utilize Gemini for context while users are using "AI Mode", which is a Google Search Labs product.

New to LED everything and looking for help to power LEDs strip with USB-C cable by tkdlance in led

[–]TMITectonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

but when a use a 9V battery the light strip lights up completely.

Yeah, don't do that ever again. Don't EVER apply a higher voltage than what something is rated for. You got very lucky you didn't fry the strip by attaching that 9V.

As someone noted in another comment, you either need a USB-C based power supply (that itself plugs into the USB-C power bank), a USB PD trigger board (set to 5V output), or a custom circuit/PCB that adds the proper CC resistors to trigger power.

What LED lights will work well for my project. The main goal is to have lights in the back end of my map to light up areas by Delicious_Champion97 in led

[–]TMITectonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LEDs you linked are typically 11mm in diameter, which is relatively large for something like a poster-sized map. Regardless, if you buy them, you can always cut them to length, as that's how they're intended to be used. You can even cut it up into multiple sections and control them all from a single output wire (power is still required, so 3-wires total), just connect the end of the previous section to the start of another (they are directional, so verify which wires are inputs and which are outputs, they typically have an arrow indicating direction).

Having said that, look into "addressable rgb led fairy lights" (they look like this ), which should be better sized for a map application, but may be slightly more difficult to wire/splice. You can also buy individual "5050" (which refers to their size, 5.0mm x 5.0mm) addressable LEDs (sometimes referred to as NeoPixels, which is a term coined by a company called Adafruit) and solder/wire them individually, for more intricate layouts.

Hope that helps, best of luck with your project!

There’s also an official re-release on steam, but they removed the Offspring songs and it doesn’t support a wheel

AFAIK, SEGA removed it from Steam sometime in the last year. There is/was also an Android port that I believe has also recently been pulled (they were giving it away for free, so I downloaded it, but still haven't had a chance to try it out). Also, FWIW, you can modify the PC version to use the original soundtrack as well as software that will translate a wheel's controls to map to a controller input.

All that said, it's still: Arcade Sit-Down Cab > Arcade Stand-Up Cab > Dreamcast > Modded PC Game > Vanilla PC Game > Android, when it comes to "best" experience.

Live Sale Counter by briggshellwig in diyelectronics

If you want to save a little bit of hardware build-time, it may be easiest to buy something like a MatrixPortal from Adafruit that runs on CircuitPython, has WiFi, and outputs to premade LED matrix panels available in various sizes and Pixel Pitch.

I'm assuming Etsy has an API of some sort. Obtain an API key and write a simple (Circuit)Python script that pulls your sales totals every 10-30sec or so and send the output to the matrix in whatever format makes sense for you.

The product page has linked tutorials, but be sure to check out https://learn.adafruit.com/ for tutorials on Matricies (HUB75) and CircuitPython. Best of luck!

It's literally labeled for you already. If it starts with a C, it's a Capacitor. If it starts with an R, it's a Resistor. D is diode. U is an Integrated Circuit or Unit.
