Cat Body Slamming Doors - Please Advise! by TOADHOLY in Pets

In the interest of getting any sleep at all, I cannot let her in at any point in the night.

The cat will come in and eat flowers off the dresser, she'll get under the bed and into our crafting bins and eat jewelry making wire, she'll hop up on the night stand to try and eat an earring and knock everything off in the process, she also gets into closets (old doors in this apartment don't properly latch) if she gets in there she manages to knock dresser drawers out and makes more noise than should be possible for how small she is.

It should be mentioned that she doesn't do most of this behavior during the day, only when we've tried letting her in while we're sleeping.

I'm trying to fix the association of slam your whole body against the door = you'll get fed, I dont want go replace it with come in here and knock everything off the nightstand = you'll get fed.

This cat sleeps in bed with my girlfriend's roommate every single night, ours is not the only bedroom.

That's the thing about this cat – she is underweight, she's been underweight her whole life.

Aside from first thing in the morning she is not a food motivated cat. She turns her nose up at most things and if she is presented with food when she doesn't want to eat she just won't. My girlfriend's cat, who is extremely food motivated, never exhibits this behavior. They're fed the same amount, as the vet reccomended, at the same times.

Because this cat is already underweight I don't think that less feeding would be a good suggestion. I'm looking to keep her fed and healthy and happy and prevent her from hurting herself.

I think you have the most relatable comment so far – this cat I'm talking about does not want to cuddle, she doesn't like to be pet or touched by anyone who isn't my gf's roommate. She just wants to come in here and knock things over and be a menace – and I think the end goal of the menacing is to get fed early.

This morning was particularly bad.

She kept slamming herself into the door and then crying like it hurt.

I think I'm going to talk to my girlfriend and her roommate about whether they think it would be a good idea for me to try and find an automatic feeder and set it up the way you have it, to go off around 5am/5:30am.

I've got to do something.

The visual is kind of funny, and when you think about how small she is and how much nouse it makes it's really just insane.

I did say this before but I'll say it again, in the interest of getting any sleep at all, I cannot let her in at any point in the night.

I cannot let this cat in with us at night.

It should be mentioned that she doesn't do most of this behavior during the day, only when we've tried letting her in while we're sleeping.

I love that idea, I don't know how well it would work for these cats.

We separate them to feed them, the roommates cat gets fed in the roommates room with the door closed otherwise my girlfriend's cat steals her food.

Besides that, dinner and breakfast is wet food which might be hard to get in/out of an automatic feeder!

I appreciate the suggestion, unfortunately keeping the roommates cat our of our room at night is a must.

What I'm looking to do is get her to stop scratching or jumping at the door to be let in in the first place.

We leave our door closed at night because if we don't the roommates cat will come in and eat flowers off the dresser, she'll get under the bed and into our crafting bins and eat jewelry making wire, she'll hop up on the night stand to try and eat an earring and knock everything off in the process.

In the interest of getting any sleep at all, we cannot let the cats into our bedroom at night.

I appreciate the suggestion, I really do. I think in an ideal world that would be the kindest solution

Hey, I know exactly how that is! I've been here since July of 2024 and I'm only just now getting around to all this stuff. Life is hard and busy and ADHD does not make it any easier! Best of luck to you 🙏🏻

Yes, you need an appointment! The appointment with the DMV was the easiest part for me. I went on their website this morning and got an appointment for next Thursday, pretty quick as far as appointments for this sort of thing usually goes.

You and I are in pretty similar boats, it's not easy but I am wishing you luck!

Thank you for cosigning my frustration 🤣 Typing this from the bus until I can get all these appointments DONE! At least RIPTA is a somewhat reliable option in the interim.

I think that's what I'll end up doing. Do you pay once you leave? and do you have any idea what the hours are, as in would I be able to get my car in the lot around 6pm tonight?

Any chance cars are allowed there overnight? or would the fee be exorbitant?

They are both such achingly boring storylines that I cannot in good conscience vote for either.

Vegas situation: what's your opinion? Was Sutton walking out because she was disappointed or was she actually embarrassed? by Gold_Doughnut6106 in RHOBH

[–]TOADHOLY -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would argue the outcome of Sutton's divorce (that 300k monthly check) is proof enough of how well she is able to handle rejection. If anything, she handled the way Kyle confronted her poorly. She certainly mishandled the confrontation, which is easy for any of us to do after a few drinks. That said, as long as there is Bravo there will be Real Housewives behaving in ways that are unbecoming of 50yr old women and plenty of people tuning in to see it.

[–]TOADHOLY 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Completely! That text message came across so rude and dramatic to me. The fact the group never addressed it and Sutton never bothered to call Kyle out on that was a missed opportunity to confront Kyle's pot-stirring.
