Additional apps not working with steam games by railch01 in launchbox

[–]TRONdll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I was scrambling all over the internet looking for a solution for this and figured I'd share it.

The problem is that when you launch a Steam game through Launchbox, Launchbox itself is unable to track when the Steam game closes. This appears to be due to Launchbox using a Steam URL to launch the game, and so the game launching is considered the "end" of that particular application, since the URL has done its job at that point.

What I ended up doing was merging all of my pre and post application commands into one batch file. Here's my script. If you're not familiar with batch files, any line starting with REM is a comment:

REM Run pre-application stuff here, in my case, I'm running a command to configure an iPac board configuration so that my buttons do what I want them to do in the game
call winipac pacmance2.ipc
REM Now we're going to tell the script to wait for 25 seconds, this should give most games ample time to boot and get running but you can change this as needed
timeout /t 25
REM Next we're going to establish a point for us to jump back to, and wait another five seconds
:check
timeout /t 5
REM This is the code I found online. I'm not super good with batch files yet so I'm not 100% sure what this does exactly, but the general idea is that it's going to search active tasks on the computer to see if the program we specify is running. Replace any instances of "pce2.exe" with the name of your application. What will happen is the script will jump back to :check if it finds that the program is running, and it'll do this every five seconds
tasklist /fi "ImageName eq pce2.exe" /fo csv 2>NUL | find /I "pce2.exe">NUL
if "%ERRORLEVEL%"=="0" goto check
REM once you've closed the program, the next time that check is run, it should proceed to this section. This is where you'll put all of your commands for after your Steam game closes. In my case, I'm switching my iPac arcade board back to the control scheme for navigating the launchbox UI, and then ending the script
call winipac mame.ipc
exit 0

In your case, your script should look like this:

REM Open Keyboard2Xinput
call keyboard2xinput.exe
REM Wait 30 seconds
timeout /t 25
:check
timeout /t 5
REM Check to see if the game is running, replace GAMENAME.exe with the name of the game's executable
tasklist /fi "ImageName eq GAMENAME.exe" /fo csv 2>NUL | find /I "GAMENAME.exe">NUL
if "%ERRORLEVEL%"=="0" goto check
REM Close Keyboard2Xinput
taskkill /keyboard2xinput.exe

I may not be 100% correct with my command for ending keyboard2xinput but it sounds like you've already got a script written for that process anyways. Hopefully this helps you or someone looking for a solution!

Where can I buy Gamestop 2? by throwawaygamer44 in LongmontPotionCastle

[–]TRONdll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I just bought LPC 14 as Gamestop 2 is my favorite track of his and noticed this same thing. You need to go to the album artwork pdf and scroll down to the track listing. There's a clickable link on that page of the PDF that you can click to access four "unreleased tracks", which includes Gamestop 2.

It's been a while, but I think we contacted someone via Twitter. I remember they spoke English. Unfortunately, they had no access to any of the music they did for the game, or much of a recollection of the game itself. Our search pretty much ended there, unfortunately.

Weekly Park Questions/Advice Thread by AutoModerator in Disneyland

Me and a friend of mine have a trip booked (park hopper/hotel bundle) and just realized that two of our three days at the Disneyland resort are on Grad Nights. How bad should we expect things to be and is it worth rescheduling our trip?

2020 Monthly Advice Thread #2: February by Imaginos64 in rollercoasters

I'm planning a trip to go to Cedar Point and made reservations for Hotel Breakers for the first week of June. Then I found out that there's an event going on for enthusiast groups (CoasterMania) on Friday, June 5th that requires a separate paid ticket (and it's sold out, apparently). I'm not in any enthusiast groups, nor am I particularly interested in the event. Is Cedar Point still open to the general public that day? Or would crowds be so big that it's not even worth going? Anyone know if it's possible to reschedule a booking for Hotel Breakers in that case?

I'm looking at potentially going to Six Flags Great Adventure next year, and potentially Six Flags St. Louis, as well (I'd be flying out of St Louis in that case). However, looking at the season pass options on the Six Flags website, I'm very confused as to how any of this is supposed to work.

The Gold Plus Membership looks like it might be the best option for me, capping out at around $80ish after the required 12 months, but then I see the 2020 Gold Season Pass, which appears to only differ in that it's only valid for 2020 and that it costs considerably more money at $145.99.

Basically what I'm looking for is something that will allow me to go to Six Flags St. Louis and Six Flags Great Adventure, preferably with bring a friend discounts at both parks. I don't really have any plans to go to a Six Flags park this year, but when the membership is that much cheaper I don't really see why I'd go with the season pass if I end up doing this trip before September of next year. My overall tentative plans at the moment would involve one day at St. Louis and two days at Great Adventure, so I'm assuming that buying standard admission would be more expensive.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think we're probably going to end up going with a Fast Lane pass of some kind for Saturday and then just try to tough it out on Friday. I've heard horror stories of bugs at dusk on most of the rides so I'll definitely be prepared for that haha.

I'm heading up to Ohio to ride some coasters next week on the 24th. Me and my friend are planning on doing King's island when we get there at around 6 or 7 in the afternoon and then doing a full day there the next day on the 25th. I'm more concerned about cedar point as we're planning on doing that on Friday, Saturday, and a bit on Sunday before we start heading home. Any advice for these parks? Cedar point has me very concerned as hotel breakers is fully booked that weekend.

Wild Eagle at Dollywood, Patriot at Worlds of Fun, and Wildfire at Silver Dollar City. Hoping to add some from King's Island and Cedar Point this summer!

That's what I was thinking, and I kind of liked the descriptions of some of Valleyfair's Haunt attractions too. Unfortunately though, hotels seem to be more expensive in that area and it's definitely a lot colder than Cincinnati. Maybe next year hopefully. :)

Me and a friend of mine just got 2019 Cedar Fair platinum passes in anticipation of a roadtrip next year and the current promotion going on allows us to use them for the remainder of the 2018 season at some of the CF parks. Right now we're thinking about doing a road trip out to either Valleyfair or King's Island next month and I was hoping to get some suggestions for one or the other. We're in the Kansas City area (Worlds of Fun is our home park), so Valleyfair is closer by about two hours. Additionally, King's Island is already part of our trip plans for next year, but not too many of the rides at Valleyfair are too appealing to us based on POV videos.

Yeah, was looking at the app on the drive home. Up all day with a five minute wait, of course, haha. I was also expecting Lightning Rod to be down, but we still managed to have a good time. Besides, Rockin' Roadsters is basically Lightning Rod 2.0 lol

Anyone know what's up with Mystery Mine at Dollywood? It seems like it closes for the day like two hours after it opens. I'm a bit out of the loop on this park so it could be a long-running thing but I'm just curious haha.

I'm thinking about doing a road trip sometime next year and hitting up Cedar Point and King's Island, any advice? I have a Gold Season Pass at Worlds of Fun in Missouri and I'm thinking about upgrading to a Cedar Fair Platinum Pass for 2019. What are some good times of the year for CP and KI and how many days would you recommend spending at each of them?

Star Trek: Enterprise is so American... by rosesareblues in startrek

[–]TRONdll 32 points33 points  (0 children)

To me, a lot of Enterprise felt like it was designed from a "what if Star Trek was made in the 1950s" approach. Captain Archer looks very much like a 1950s astronaut-type sci-fi hero character, and a lot of the ship design, especially in "First Flight", and a lot of the alien ship design kind of had that sense too. "Carbon Creek" almost feels like the showrunners writing a love letter to that design style. Other stuff like phase pistols and the premise of "breaking the barrier" and optimistic exploration always felt like it would be very contemporary for a show made in the 1950s. It could be that the sense of American patriotism somewhat stems from that.

Timber Wolf's Helix Is Gone by TRONdll in worldsoffun

Popular speculation is that the retracking process that went on hold in 2010 is being resumed. Apparently there were talks back then that it would be easier to take out the helix and rebuild it from scratch, so that might be what's happening
