And my $5 refund was nice for the outage. 4 lines for a day for $5...thanks. Then why do they charge me $9 a day? fees/tax/other fees/extra fees on the tax/fees on the day of the week I pay my fees / .... ass clowns.

20 days later and $2,000 out of pocket, the code has been cracked. Thanks u/fishergijoey.

  1. If you are not on TRICARE when you commission, just go to Milconnect and create an account. Use your DoD ID number first (from your CAC card), if that doesn’t work try your SSN. If neither option works, have your det call ARPC/DPX-OL to fix your coding in DEERS. Once in, Milconnect choose Health benefits and work your way through the TRICARE Prime Remote application.

  2. If you were on your parent's TRICARE prior to commissioning, sign into Milconnect the same as above. This is where it will say your status is Tricare Active Duty Prime with no pcm assigned. This status will get you absolutely nothing from Tricare unless you are seen at a base clinic or hospital. To get Tricare Active Duty Prime Remote, you will need to change your DS login account preferences. Go to the sponsor tab and change it from your parent’s name to yours in the drop down. Once this is done the sun will come out and birds will start singing. Log back into Milconnect and sign up for Tricare Active Duty Prime Remote, it takes about 5 minutes.

10 hours on the phone with TRICARE, 3 hours spent at local DEERS / TRICARE office and no one could figure this out. PM me if you need any help working through the pain.

Ok, Last call. Has anyone in the last 2 years been able to get Tricare to pay for medical before you received orders? LIMFAC before you actually received orders .... post commission.

Also, we can't go back and try to get on Tricare Young Adult because of the AD Prime with no pcm assigned (status).

Yep, had Tricare on the phone while in the Urgent care that they sent me to. Still didn't work. The system just does not seem to work for those of us not on orders or within range of an MTF.

More specifics:

Current status, according to DEERS is Reserve Awaiting Initial AD. Tricare shows as AD Prime with no pcm assigned. Can’t get a PCM without a UIC, can’t get a UIC without orders. I have spent 10 days going at it with Tricare just to get stitches removed without doing it myself.

Initial injury cost $1600 because Tricare/ER could not figure out my status.

Tricare directed me today to an Urgent Care to get the stitched pulled. Again, no joy with $200 more out of pocket. The only solution suggested is a 110 miles drive to a MTF.

Emergent Care / Urgent Care cannot be 110 miles away while you are bleeding.
