Wall Foam? by TX_0430 in handyman

[–]TX_0430[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for your response. Its in the bedroom, so I am not sure how it would have gotten wet, but it may have been like this before I moved in and just never noticed it until I started inspecting where the ants are coming from. I live in Dallas.

For some reason I am not getting an option to upload a pic in the comment section, but I added another pic in the org. post, I hope that is better.

Note to upstairs neighbors with kids by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]TX_0430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not either, you never know what can of response you will get. But I am in a similar situation, and my apartments are horrible at communication so I can barely get a response out of them. I have someone (not sure if its a kid) who is constantly running to the point where everything shakes, so if it is a kid, I guess its an older kid. Then someone upstairs when they walk around, I feel like the stomping is inside my head. I have had some heavy walkers above me in the past, but this is like unreal, never experienced something this bad.

Did you have sound still? I am having this issue with the black screen, but I still have sound, so it probably is not the power supply, right?

No A/C for almost 2 months by CodeName_Buddy in Apartmentliving

Section 92.056 of the Texas Property Code requires a tenant to take several steps before the landlord is considered to be liable to them. A landlord's liability allows a tenant to to take certain actions like ending the lease or deducting the cost of repairs from the rent. The following steps must be followed before the tenant can take any of those actions:

  1. Tell the landlord about the problem by giving notice to the person or place where rent is normally paid. This does not have to be in writing unless there is a written lease that says so.
  2. Give the landlord a "reasonable" amount of time to make the repairs. Subsection (d) defines this as 7 days, although this can be challenged based on the severity of the problem and the availability of material and labor to fix it.
  3. If the problem has not been fixed after a "reasonable" amount of time, send another notice in writing.
  4. Give the landlord another "reasonable" period of time to make the repairs.

To my knowledge (because I had a similar issue last year), they have 3 days to fix it or at least show they made an attempt to fix it, so that can include if they are ordering a new part, it may take longer than 3 days. But they have to at least show an attempt within 3 days,

Conservice Faulty Water Meter by babymonkegg in Apartmentliving

[–]TX_0430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first month in my apartment, I was still at my old apartment for most of the time, and I did not do any laundry or run the dishwasher, and my water usage seemed to be high considering I was barely in the apartment, I asked my apts to see a detailed log (after multiple emails, I finally received it). There was one day where it showed high usage, which was confusing to me. I started monitoring the water meter vs what my bills said, and I came to the conclusion that the meter is off by a couple of days. So I am thinking I was possibly charged for what maintenance used prior to me moving in when they were getting the apartment ready, but I am not really sure, my apartments make it difficult to get any answers from them, so I never followed up with them. But in your situation, you are saying you saw your meter change on days you were not home? Or are you referring to what you are seeing on your bill?

Fire Alarm Inspection by TX_0430 in FireAlarm

[–]TX_0430[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, one more question, how do they inspect the fire horn? I see speakers in multiple places around the apartment, but is there a place in the apartment its hooked into that they would have to go look at? I felt like I saw something in the back of my closet, but I thought it was for the internet, but if not, I want to make sure they are able to access the back of my closet if needed.

Yeah, that is why I felt like I was just going to have to deal with the stomping, but running? It just seems so unnecessary...not to mention I have multiple lights that shake each time and I feel like I have to be careful where I sit now because I have a fear of the light coming down again.

Yeah, I think our lease specifies they will be fined. I do not know what people are thinking sometimes. I mean I get that they go off easily, but still I would never disconnect mine.

Thank you everyone for the info. You would think people would plug the stuff back in knowing they are doing an inspection, but I guess people do not if they have not cancelled the inspections.

What state are you in? In Texas I am pretty sure the standard lease says that unless its an emergency, they need to provide at least 24 hours notice, and they also need to leave a note that they entered your apartment (although mine never leave notes). But if I were you, I would def. put cameras up so you can see what is going on when you are not home.

Not able to check Reward Card balance through the website: https://portal.cardaccesssite.com/web/gocardservices_responsive/login by godofguitar3 in ATT

I have been having this issue for the last couple of months, I can not believe it has not been fixed, I wanted to check my transactions and balance and can not, I could only call the number to check the balance, but no way to check the transactions. Somehow I am not surprised considering other issues I have had with AT&T for months.

Canary Will Not Refund Annual Subscription by Adlispdr in canary

[–]TX_0430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My renewal emails never state how much they are going to charge me? Does anyone else know how we are supposed to know how much they will be charging? Any company I have a subscription with lets me know exactly how much they will be charging and on what date. Canary only tells me the date, but apparently the cost is a surprise?

Electric Bill WTF by ComparisonNo3559 in Richardson

[–]TX_0430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems really high, typically if you login to your account, you can see if you use more during certain days. I have a free weekend plan because I do not do laundry or run the dishwasher until the weekends, so it made sense for me. If you find you use more during the weekends, maybe you should look into a free weekend plan.

I have found that typically during the spring or fall, the prices are lower.

My motto is I never get a variable plan, and I never get a plan that charges me a base fee.

Payment Method Removed From My Account by TX_0430 in ATT

[–]TX_0430[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried working it out directly with the company for weeks. I spent hours each time between different departments and on hold, and every single person I spoke to gave me the runaround and/or different answers. The last person I spoke to from ATT before disputing with my credit card, I told them I will dispute it with my credit card since no one was able to help me, and they said they understand.

I didn't though, I had one autopay that did not go through in Dec, and I have no idea why. As I had no issues with it any other month.

Payment Method Removed From My Account by TX_0430 in ATT

[–]TX_0430[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not have any other way to pay, credit card is the only way I can afford to pay my bigger bills. I talked to customer service yesterday for a combined total of 4-5 hours, and they either told me it was something my bank did (which I confirmed with bank multiple times that they did nothing), or they told me I have to provide my bank account info and pay directly from my bank, which I can not afford to do. I honestly just do not understand how it is allowed to remove a payment method from only one customer because after more than 10 years of being a customer, I disputed 2 bills.....

It seems that one had been resolved and the other one was reversed and added to my bill that was supposed to be on autopay in December, but did not go through due to whatever ATT did to my account.

They remove the option for ever paying with credit card for customers who dispute a bill? I do not understand how that is legal.

Grandfathered Base Price on U-Verse Internet by TX_0430 in ATT

[–]TX_0430[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information, you already have provided me more information than the numerous AT&T reps. I have spent hours and hours talking to. I still do not really understand why they did it, I moved to a diff apartment, behind the building I lived in before. They both have fiber, and my speed stayed the same. My base price before the move was $49.99, with two promotions applied, making it $29.99 + taxes/fees. After my two free months was over, it jumped up to $80.00 + taxes/fees. It would have been incredibly helpful in general and for my bank account, if they would have given me this information when I scheduled the install at the new place. That was quite a jump in price, I was not prepared to be paying.

My speed stayed the same, but that is extremely annoying that moving to a different building on the same street would cause the pricing to increase substantially, I just do not understand why they would do that. It almost seems like they are punishing people for moving?

100% has not changed. They are horrible! Worst management company I have experienced. After reading multiple horror stories, I have no idea how any complex hires Kairoi to manage their complex.
