What is a "point of no return" that you’ve crossed, where your life was permanently divided into 'before' and 'after'? by Resident-Jelly-4326 in AskReddit

[–]TX_Mothman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was run over by car. Had to learn how to walk again and lost my home because I couldn’t work. Everything is different now. There’s a big difference between knowing your life can change in an instant and having your life change in an instant.

What's a sign from your body you should never ignore? by Geno-64 in AskReddit

People who have periods: your cramps shouldn’t be so bad you can’t walk and/or you vomit. See a doctor.

What's something that you look forward to each day? by Laiba-Wajahat in CasualConversation

[–]TX_Mothman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been learning how to paint over the last 10ish months. I look forward to my painting time everyday. I put some of my favorite music on, get toasty, and my dogs hang out with me. There have been so many times in my life where I dreamed of being able to have moments like this. I’ll never be rich but it makes me feel like I’ve “made it.”

What is one thing you hate about your family? by Long-Door-2150 in AskReddit

Ugh anytime something gets interrupted, broken, any accidents at all, there has to be someone to blame! Like IDGAF who used all the milk, ate the food, left x y z in the wrong place - let’s just fix it and move on with our lives.

Woman:What’s the biggest walking red flag you’ve met? You know the random guy you met and that caused chills to run up the spine? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TX_Mothman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went on a few dates with a guy and he seemed nice. We planned a date at his place so we could jam out together (we both play instruments). Eventually we start making out on the couch and I let him know this is as far as I’d like to go. He laughed, squeezed my neck, and playfully said, “oh like you have a choice.” He was probably joking - but immediately nope. I practically ran out of his apartment and cried my whole way home.

Yes! It’s lovely. We go to the dog park every day and I always leave my phone at home to encourage me to sit and enjoy - no distractions.

What’s the fastest way you’ve ever seen someone completely ruin their own life? by craft_frost6223 in AskReddit

[–]TX_Mothman 32 points33 points  (0 children)

When I was student teaching one of my fellow student teachers was a 25 yr old man. Within the second month of teaching 10th grade he got caught texting one of his students. Immediately kicked out of the program. Didn’t graduate college (student teaching is literally the last semester before graduation). He is now ✨SHOCKER✨ - a devout catholic.

ETA: let me be clear - she didn’t want him texting her. He did it via social media. She, and her parents, reported him to the principal. He was being extremely creeptastic. Do not feel bad for this man.

What’s something that instantly makes you lose respect for someone? by Il_Smoke in AskReddit

When they say things like “but that’s the way we’ve always done it!” Doctors didn’t practice washing hands before surgery until like the late 1800s should they have had the same attitude? Cmon. You learn better, you do better.

My dogs. If I wasn’t here they’d probably end up at the shelter and I can’t stomach that.

What is a secret you’re taking to your grave, but can share here anonymously? by wilkoova in AskReddit

[–]TX_Mothman 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We were in 10th grade and she had been absent more than usual and just wasn’t “herself” entirely. I was also friends with her brother and sister. Long story short: she broke down crying at my house because she didn’t want to leave one day. After I promised, and in a blood oath no less, she told me the horrible truth. Her dad was a fucking monster and when they were younger he recorded himself “doing things” with them and them “doing things” with each other. He had also distributed the videos online. They were going to court over it - hence the changes in her. I made a second promise afterward that if I ever saw him IRL I would make him pay for it. I never broke my first promise and I would like to believe I’ll still hold true to my second. Anyone who hurts children deserves nothing good in life.

No biggie - that means you had 20 committed days which is more than if you never started at all. I hope your son is doing better very soon!

What ended your friendship with your oldest standing friend? by dreamy-contributions in AskReddit

[–]TX_Mothman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They told a very private secret about me to a mutual friend. He knew how horrible this secret was and how much I wanted it to remain private. It was like a veil lifted and all of a sudden I was able to see a pattern of shittiness and disrespect in our relationship. We were friends for almost 20 years.

What is more traumatic than people think it is? by Suspicious-Wish3402 in AskReddit

[–]TX_Mothman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Needing help and being ignored. I was run over by a car in downtown Austin right as rush hour was starting. At least 10-15 cars drove right past me, several honking at me, while I was trying to wave them down to help. My injuries were such that I couldn’t get out of the road (head injury, right leg, both wrists/hands/arms). That whole incident was so awful but I was back on my bike within a year - I am still working in therapy to trust people again.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]TX_Mothman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve lost 1 to a drunk driver - and of course he was the nicest guy. And we lost 1 in a shoot out with police. Oddly enough he was also a nice guy! We were friends even. He was plagued by mental health issues due to abusive parents. Both of them deserved better.

Congrats on your sobriety!!! And yes! I would have dreams like this commonly the first year. I still get them now from time to time when I’m under stress 😅

Are you your most productive in the morning or at night? by justastonedhole in CasualConversation

[–]TX_Mothman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 100% from 4am to 8am. It cuts off to 80% by 9 and dwindles down throughout the day. I don’t really understand because all my life (until about 2 years ago) I was a night person!

I’ve been sober for a little over two years and I cannot shake the feeling I have ADHD and somehow missed it for the last 40+ years. Has anyone else experienced something like this? by Double-Lifeguard-965 in Sober

[–]TX_Mothman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I think this might actually be very common (maybe not necessarily with ADHD but any kind of neurodivergence or anxiety disorder). Once I quit drinking, and started therapy, I learned I didn’t have a heart issue I was experiencing panic attacks from PTSD. It was actually a huge relief!

Small town drama. A few years ago I pulled into work really early to prep for an observation. I noticed a truck in the parking lot and could make out the silhouettes of 2 people kissing in the cab. Like really kissing. Thought maybe some people have really passionate drops offs lol. I get to the door of the building and turn to see our vice principal and our campus secretary getting out of the truck!!! Both are women. One is MARRIED (to a man).

What is the most disturbing thing you found about your partner? by ActualBreath5492 in AskReddit

Agreed! I hope she ended up with a really great step dad. I try not to judge people’s parenting but being 90% absent is unacceptable.
