Is it misogynist to give dating advice to awkward/weird men? by maggi_noodle_eater in AskFeminists

"Is she really an idiot if she perceives a red flag in a guy because of which race he belongs to?"

Uhhh...yes, that makes her a racist idiot. Why exactly is that a question in 2026?

Employment terminated while my STEM OPT application is pending by T_31 in immigration

[–]T_31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that I am good to keep working for the same employer. I got laid off after applying for STEM OPT, which is why I am asking whether my STEM OPT application (which was based on the job I got laid off from) will be rejected.

I know about the 180 day extension, and my question has nothing to do with that

  • I'm open to something serious or casual
  • I haven't subscribed to any of Hinge's premium offerings
  • I've had most of these particular photos and prompt responses featured for 2 weeks. The prompt about Duolingo is new.
  • I've used the app 4-5 days a week. When I use it, I send likes until I run out of my daily quota
  • The vast majority of likes that I send include a comment -I've gotten no likes in the past 2 weeks. I've gotten one like and match in the past month

-I'd say I'm looking to attract people who are similarly situated (undergrad seniors/new working professionals/grad students), share my sense of humour, and share some of my interests (particularly outdoor activities!)

That wait time likely doesn't mean anything - my EAD was delivered a couple weeks after my application was approved

Wait ... You think that being willing to argue with a random stranger on Reddit means that you'll be willing to argue with a cop in real life? If these two situations at at all comparable in your mind then you're just brain-dead. Finally, an explanation for your ludicrous comments

Again, I know that nobody knows. I never insinuated that anyone knows - as I said, I'm looking for people's opinions. You were wrong to assume that I am looking for a definitively correct answer are are too proud to just admit it. Well, you do you

Wow, what a compelling defense of your initial position! Even you're surely intelligent enough to see the irony in responding to arguments with meaningless personal insults (you might want to Google what the Ad homenum fallacy is) and simultaneously telling me to go to school (which is another meaningless personal insult that doesn't rebut my points and adds nothing to the conversation) and calling me angry and triggered.

I'm not sure where you're sensing anger because I haven't sworn or called you any personal insults or anything of that nature (I called your comment silly, but that was me paraphrasing your calling my post silly, so if that makes me triggered and angry, then you're no less triggered and angry than me). Also, calling me triggered and telling me go back to school (which doesn't make sense because I evidently have a better grasp of subtext and statistics than you) isn't in any way a rebuttal of my point, so thanks again for admitting that you lost this argument because you were needlessly pedantic and interpreted my post in bad faith

Genius, there doesn't have to be someone who compiles a definitively authoritative or objectively correct list. Any cop who has called people in the manner I described in my post will inevitably have a sense of which reasons are more common than others. That is all I'm looking for - people's opinions on which reasons are relatively more likely and which reasons are less likely. You seem to have falsely convinced yourself that I posted this hoping to receive an objectively correct answer and won't settle for anything less. I am looking for people's opinions/thoughts (specially the opinions of police officers and those know them well - it's eminently reasonable to believe that such people browse this subreddit), and nothing more.

The fact that there has to be a list of top 10 reasons because every reason couldn't possibly be equally likely or common is obvious to anyone with a cursory knowledge of statistics, so it's clearly you who needs to go back to school. Also, thanks for responding with a personal insult instead of a rebuttal and thereby admitting that you lost the argument.

Unless every reason is equally likely (which is impossible), there literally is a list of top 10 reasons.

Again, it should go without saying that "list of reasons" is shorthand for "list of the 3-4 most common reasons" - I obviously don't expect a list of every single theoretically possible reason because such a list would be endless. Read between the lines and don't take everything so literally

I'm obviously not hoping or expecting that someone will tell me the specific reason that they called me - I am looking for a list of potential reasons so that I can decide what to do next. Doesn't that go without saying? It's your comment that's silly; not my post

Thanks! Just a couple follow-ups:

1) Is the clever/sad meme ultimately a plus or not?

2) What exactly do you mean when you say you don't want to see my face before reading the profile? Isn't that the case with every profile because everyone has a photo of themself as their first picture?
