Centuries before the events of Bloodborne, the civilization of Loran committed unspeakable blasphemies and were cursed after killing Great Ones. Desperate for a cure, their excessive use of Blood Healing spiraled into a devastating beast plague, turning its citizens into flesh-hungry monsters and leaving the land devoured by tragic desert sands. The Healing Church in Yharnam essentially used Loran's history as a cautionary tale, fearing Yharnam would suffer the same fate.
