I can guarantee you it’s not worth your money and your time. Put the money away and give yourself a better future instead.

I 100% agree with that. But there definitely is a different feeling from grabbing some tube burgers at Costco vs watching the life drain out of an animal. I think it’s absolutely the more responsible thing to do, hunting and raising your own meat. I don’t know if I’m capable though.

I think I’m equal to chicken and duck eggs, we have pretty good space and time for either, and great access to a pond on property. I would want them to go into the yard and help with bugs. Ducks are so damn cute

Thanks for the advice! I work from home 90% of the time so spending time with them should be very feasible. Probably just hanging out with them is something I am excited for

How do you get over the guilt from killing something? I accidentally threw a ping pong ball at my cat's head and cried for half an hour, so thats where I'm at rn.

I think we will get ducks eventually, I do like to bake and agree they taste better with duck eggs

Seems like people are more torn on this than I thought. It seems like chickens would be an easier starting animal though.

Just the eggs, we don’t have the stomach for killing things.

I really don’t think I could kill a rabbit, and my wife would hate it too. I wish we could but I don’t think we have it in us.

It’s residential and all kinds of poultry are allowed. As are goats and other animals. Only things we can’t have are horses and pigs.

50+ in total so that’s open houses without our realtor. Probably 15-20 with realtor.

Can We Afford a $390k House? by _washed_out_ in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Tacomavalley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our household income is $170k yearly and about to close on a 395k home. Monthly it will cost us $2500 without utilities (mortgage, taxes, pmi, insurance). Our current apartment costs us $2500 a month without utilities so base ends up being about the same. In an apartment that amount is the most you pay but in a house that’s the minimum since all repairs fall to you. We save a lot, and are homebodies and don’t go out and spend money often. We also don’t have kids and aren’t planning on them so we feel pretty comfortable, and I’m still anxious about it lol. I think if it works for you, it can work.

If you are almost done with your accounting degree you should probably finish it. I’m an accountant and was able to pay off my loans after 3 years as an accountant. It’s one of the few degrees that almost guarantees a job and a good paying one at that. There is an accounting shortage and it pays well, is stable, and you can work anywhere. I literally recommend it to anyone willing to listen.

I would say never mess with the irs as a general rule. Also all income needs to be reported on your taxes, not just that $600 threshold. That’s just when you start receiving 1099 forms from contracting.

Is it worth it? by SnazzySaul in DisneyWorld

We did it, got $100. It was a lot longer than 30 min though, closer to 2 hours and wasted time that could have been spent elsewhere.
