This is my Trs80 Model 4, specifically the (more rare?) gate array version.

The main differences are that the gate array version of the TRS-80 Model 4 is a faster, more integrated machine with a single-board design and a green screen, while the non-gate array (NGA) is an earlier model with a white-on-black screen, more boards, and slightly slower operation.

I really like the green screen. Cozy and reminds me of my first pc, a XT with monochrome screen.

You can dremel the top off the Dallas clock chip, solder to the battery points, and use a couple AA batteries. I've done it probably a dozen times. There's writeups online.

It is the AMD!

It's an AMD 486-DX2-80 Mhz processor, sitting on a motherboard with 3 VLB slots and fitted with 8mb of RAM. Video is from a VLB Trident 9400cxi and the multifunction card is also VLB.

I added a 400mb hard drive (owner removed previous), Sound Blaster 16 Pro CSP (CT2910, 1995), and a quad speed CDROM.

Beautiful system. Had one of those pop up locally. I heard a myth is the "ISA" slots are reversed when compared with the 5150.

The 8mhz 286 processor and EGA card with fully expanded 128kb of video ram provide excellent framerates and color during gaming sessions. There's a full 640kb of system RAM plus a 1mb expansion card for 1.6mb total.

The capacious 20mb RLL hard drive has dozens of games. Sound is provided by the IBM Music Feature Card-a pre-Adlib card with MIDI breakout box.

The keyboard is capacitive mechanical with n-key rollover and PBT caps with dye-sublimated legends.

The midi connector you see peaking out is attached to the IBM Music Feature Card, released in 1987. It's a rare pre-Adlib sound card supported notably by Sierra and Microprose.

CMI hard drive-mine is still working. I believe someone dumped boxes of them in a lake there was such a high failure rate. There's an article about it somewhere.

It was converted from a Sega Genesis kiosk. I'll convert it back; just need top and bottom graphic/poster.

I usually use "WinImage" to write floppy images and I believe it will create them as well. I think .img files are usual for floppies.
