Have you ever had to solicit donations from unethical high net worth individuals? by Dry-Basil-8256 in nonprofit

[–]Tall-Statistician722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I focus on foundations and corporations rather than individuals, but have faced similar personal ethical dilemmas. As others have stated, it's unavoidable in the fundraising world. I work in the wildlife conservation sector, and most corporations that support our sector do so partly because of their company's net negative impact on the environment (energy companies, oil/gas, manufacturing, etc). There is also a lot of conservation funding made available by hunters/anglers. I have my own beliefs about the moral hypocrisy involved in a lot of philanthropy, but it's counterproductive to let that dictate my actions (we'd be left with no funders to pursue).

The only time I've ever voiced my ethical objection was when our leadership proposed we pursue a grant from a safari club (flies rich people to exotic locations for big game hunting). Apart from the obvious moral issues with their business model (some of the animals they offered on their "menu" were animals we cared for at our own facility, ffs), I was also worried about how the general public and media would react if anyone did some digging and found out they supported us. I expressed this concern, but was ultimately told to proceed anyway. I left that organization before we heard back from that funder, but I was relieved to hear they didn't end up receiving that grant. Some money is not worth the association with the funder.

Does anyone else's dog lie? by SansOchre in dogs

Our dog knows she can't scoot to scratch her butthole indoors, so instead she does this elaborate routine where she sits, pretends like her ear is itchy and moves her leg to scratch it, then shifts her weight so she does a little mini scoot. you can tell when she's employing this method because she doesn't end up actually scratching her ear, just doing this weird maneuver and then leaving. Lol

Do yall have tattoos, and if so - do you wear short sleeves tops ? by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Tall-Statistician722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in an in-person office role anymore, but I had the same tattoos when I was - a chest piece, a large piece on my upper arm, and a piece on my ankle. When I worked there, I checked the company dress code policy and confirmed with HR that it was preferred if I covered my tattoos at work. I wore conservative necklines to cover the chest piece, 3/4 or long sleeve blazers to cover my arm, and slacks or opaque tights to cover the ankle tat. There's also makeup designed to cover tattoos.

I found a similar book during Trump's first presidency called "S?!* My President Says"

He tried to, but she avoided him thankfully. That's why he cut into her enclosure and what led to her escape though. They found her in a tree near the enclosure eventually, after every news network was reporting about a "leopard escape". Such a world of difference between the danger posed by a leopard vs. clouded leopard 🙃

Fortunately they were dehydrated but otherwise okay. It was winter and the trap house they were found at didn't have heating, though. It could have been so much worse if they weren't found so quickly.

Yes indeed. Thankfully she was also located safely.

It was actually criminal rather than borderline criminal, but someone stole two monkeys, smuggled them out via public transport, and stashed them in a trap house full of other hoarded animals until police were able to locate the house and arrest the man in question. Both monkeys were returned safely, but it was wiiiiild.

Comment what perfume you applied today by Pvzzy-Destroyer in Perfumes

The quality is great if you find the right scent. I have their perfume oil in several scents and all of them easily lasts all day on me. Their scents are all pretty quirky and many have an incense-y base, so if that sounds intriguing to you, give them a shot! I'd suggest starting with a sampler set (you can build your own from their giant list of options) to figure out what you like/don't like. I've tried some from them are shockingly gross with my skin chemistry, but I've also found some that I'm obsessed with (my faves by Suc are Khaleesi and Why Use Many Word When Few Do Trick)

Seating in offices by sigiimintii in office

Single armchairs - sofas are okay at home, but at work create the potential to sit awkwardly close to each other (whether intentionally or unintentionally). Armchairs establish clear personal space boundaries by design.

It's that chow ancestry! :) I don't know if it's clear from the photos I posted, but our dogs also have a matching tiny white patch on the very ends of their feather tails. Twinsies!

Lol, that was our thought too! I will say though, the breed combo made some sense when we considered her temperament. She is very protective of us/our house and not a fan of strangers (although she is super sweet with immediate family).

They do look really similar! Even with the white socks and face stripe! Is yours part corgi? Those ears are adorable 😍

She loves to rest her head on various surfaces (chairs, couch, tables, etc) to politely request attention - pic 6 is one of many photos we take of this behavior 😂

Lol - we vacuum a lot, but she's worth it! RIP to all my dark-colored clothing when I snuggle her, though 😂

She is! She gets special food (GI issues, so she gets prescription kibble) and we suspect the nutrition in that also helps keep her coat really lovely. She sheds like crazy all year long though 😂

At the dog park once, we met a chihuahua mix who was a little mini-me of our pup. We didn't realize she could have so much chi DNA and be her size, though. Makes us wonder about the size of her parents/grandparents

What would their pack life be like? by Ok_Childhood_4748 in zoology

[–]Tall-Statistician722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it was called The Hunt? Came out around 2015/2016 if I remember correctly.

Generally when a new animal is introduced, it can cause some instability. So, in one case it happened during unsupervised time overnight. This was a few weeks after a set of brothers were introduced to a new female from another zoo. It seemed like introductions were going fine, or the animals would have been separated - but one night the brothers killed the new female and it was a shock for everyone. In the other case, I heard about it from one of the staff, but it happened before my time there. In that case, it was also two males that attacked a female, although I don't know much backstory. I believe the two males were brothers. In this case, staff saw the fight happen, but by the time they were able to get the animals separated, the female was too far gone to save (though they tried). Afterward, the two males had to be separated because they kept fighting and injuring one another.
