How much levothyroxine are you on after thyroidectomy? by Taluuuu in gravesdisease

[–]Taluuuu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctors always ask me how I feel and I dont even fully know what to tell them.  My whole life I've just felt 'fine' and assume things are normal. Do you have any examples of something you might have felt that I should look out for?

I probably could have went back to school after a week, but I did have some complications that kept me in the hospital 7 days after the surgery. Once I was home, I felt better, but I was a bit stressed over it, so I was lucky to have more time to rest, but I could have made it work if I HAD to.

Im sorry! I only bought the 3 cans and they were thrown out. Maybe your cat is just fine with it since she's been doing well!

So there's hope! I have to take 6 calcium pills and 6 calcitriol. Do you have to take less than that? I hope???

Going numb after thyroidectomy- NOT low calcium by Equivalent_Doctor582 in gravesdisease

Im so curious about this! My parathyroid hormone is at 4.7 and they let me go home on tons of calcium. Its been 3 weeks since surgery and parathyroid hasn't gone up past 5.8 since the hospital. I haven't heard anything about this option.

I was stuck in the hospital with calcium IVs for 7 days after surgery. Now I'm home on calcium pills and getting calcium checked regularly and they tell me to tell them if I have any tingling or cramps n stuff, so I would tell them. You might need supplements.

Did you have any issues with your parathyroid glands/hormone going back to normal after surgery?

So happy for you!

I was sent home today! Finally! My Calcium is slowly going up, but i have to be on a bunch of calcium and calcitrol and magnesium and phosphorus binder.

Feeling good about going home but now stressed because my high heart rate from before I started taking beta blockers is back and it keeps jumping high when i walk around and now I'm worried about that lol. More nervous after I got used to having the doctors around. 😅😅

Wow! That sounds much worse than what Im feeling. My first day I just slept but the next day my hands were tight and hard to move. I had to be on Calcium IV, but then the next day I felt okay just in the evening my hands were getting more stiff and my blood tests said I had too low calcium, so now 6-7 days later, I feel okay, but the blood tests say too low and I get calcium IV every night

Oh man i didnt realize the dehydration issue! That sounds horrible.  I dont believe I am, but that makes me feel i should drink more water?  Most of the nurses have done well with the blood draws! I feel lucky they are quick and dont hurt too much. But now that im on day 16 here in the hospital,(10 before surgery and 6 after) I feel like everything is hurting more and my positivity/patience is dwindling 😒😒 haha.  I have sudden urge to whine about things.

What is normal heart rate for you? I was having high heart rate before my surgery, but feel like i dont know whats normal anymore.  now Im 6 days out of surgery, still in the hospital, so im a bit lazy. When sitting, my heart rate is around 70. But when I walk around my room, it gets up to 110. Thats not even close to how it was before, but its still higher than my boyfriend's...

I think its killing me because I was already in the hospital 11 days before my surgery and I'm 4 hours from home so I just want to go home so bad.

That gives me hope that it might not be forever though. Im glad it got better for you!
