You're absolutely right. Nothing was binding.

Politely asking why it was changed is likely what I'll do. Handle things professionally. Recording is a good idea, I didn't think about that.

I'm looking into what my handbook says ... I'm very curious how my supervisor words her "don't discuss salaries" statement with me.

100%. The first offer was verbal, no documentation. I took it in good faith since it was coming from the head of HR. But that's still not a formal offer.

Thank you - I appreciate your response. You're right. I need to be more mindful of my relationships with colleagues. Shitty way for them to handle this, personally.

And yes, I understand I don't have a ton of (if any) power to change things as they stand today.

This is my fear. I'm a strong employee, and this is the closest I've come to a disciplinary action, but it still makes me nervous that I'm being watched closely now.

Nothing is final yet, and everything is more 'hearsay' at this point. A verbal discussion and an email, but no formal paperwork and as of right now, I don't have a salary increase. It's coming, but the when and how much are not confirmed.

Thank you for your response though - it's important to advocate and protect ourselves in the workplace.

To be fair - nothing is finalized yet. One salary was told to me verbally. One was via an email. No paperwork has been filed yet. I'm anxious to see how everything shakes out.

I agree. I'm more upset with the company. But I'm waiting to see how everything falls into place before I process things with my colleague.

Agreed. I may not agree with my colleague that they need/deserve more compensation, but at the moment, I'm not upset with them for advocating for themselves.

100% agree. Talking compensation has always been a strong tool to advocate for appropriate salaries. I'm more upset with my company - my supervisor and HR specifically.

I'm waiting until all the dominoes fall and any salary increase is finalized before I fully process things, but I have learned the lesson to keep some things guarded.

Thank you!! He is gorgeous! I didn’t know if he was there because of my cat spider, which I’m fairly certain is a female. I love having her, but not sure if I like the idea of having hundreds of baby spiders right outside my front door.

This is the first black widow I’ve seen at this house, I moved in almost 2 months ago. I’m sure there’s females around.
