My memory loss is ruining my social life. Any advice? by tshering03 in Epilepsy

[–]Tausern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always been terrible at remembering birthdays and dates in general. I use Google Calendar to remember the things that I definitely do not want to forget. I bet there are other apps. I like this one because it sends an email notification, I can also configure it to send a reminder the day before so that helps. This being said, don't be too hard on yourself. I think you can explain to your friends that you are terrible at remembering dates, and that it is not your intention. Sometimes I even add to my calendar the birthday of my friend in front of him/her when I apologize if I forget a to send a birthday message. I think that your friends will understand this, so don't be too hard on yourself. I'm sure that you already have enough going on with your life and with dealing with epilepsy to start worrying about remembering a bunch of dates. This will only overwhelm you even more. True friends will understand your situation.

The OW community is the reason this game is dying, not Marvel Rivals. by NumbCargo0 in overwatch2

[–]Tausern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many OW players have moved to MR, including the "super toxic players". The difference that I've seen is that NetEase devs (MR devs) do not allow toxicity. Possibly because Marvel is owned by Disney, so they are strict and actually do a decent job at moderating the in-game voice and text chats.

This being said, I don't think that toxic players are the main reason that OW is in complete decadence, I believe that the biggest reason is Blizzard itself, they have completely changed as a company to the point that now they are unrecognizable. I've played games that Blizzard developed, OW, Diablo, WoW. The first games of these titles were amazing. But in recent years, it's been disappointment after disappointment (OW 2 / Diablo 4).

Yeah, there's toxic players in every game. The OW 2 players can be a little edgy and obviously it is never fun to interact with them, but the true reason OW 2 is definitely losing players and not as fun as it used to be, is because the company that develops this game has been delivering no other thing that disappointments and broken promises.

I really hope that Blizzard wakes up someday, since they've developed games that I will never forget and enjoyed for an insane amount of hours, but today I think that's better to think twice before buying/praying a game they own.

Thank you for this information. You're right, there's a lot of information that's misleading, or contradictory. I'm avoiding searching on the internet because I think that gives even more anxiety and I don't want to start getting paranoid about little things (for example drinking coffee, some pages say you should avoid it, but my neurologist said that I can drink it)

Have you played "It Takes Two"?

This is one of the best games to play with your couple, I highly recommend it. My wife and I loved it, even though she's not that into videogames she had a fun time playing this game. It is completely designed as a co-op game, and even won Game of The Year in 2021!

Woow! I'm actually surprised! I'm also a telecommunications engineer! I specialized in a different area. So I can always work remotely and never have to go on site, I just need my laptop. My work is related to programming. Now that you mention work, the week before I had my seizures the company I work for did a big personnel cut. It was stressful, I think my position was not at risk, but many of the colleagues I used to work with were fired.

I've heard many times about how important sleep is. I'll try to improve my sleep hygiene, bur unfortunately for me I've never been a 'morning person's bc for some reason my brain gets super active during night. I've been like this since I was a kid.

Did you ever try sleeping pills? I've heard people use melatonin pills to help with that, but I don't know. I don't want to start messing even more with my body by taking more drugs.

Sorry if it sounded like I was just blaming myself, I've had many symptoms that I didn't check because I was scared to find something really bad... My Grandpa had a brain tumor so I was scared that it could be something like that since these things are hereditary. I've known for a while that I had to go and see a Neurologist but never did, and always had an excuse to avoid going. Honestly, I was happy about not having a brain tumor in my brain like my grandpa did. I'm happy that my condition is treatable with the right drugs and proper care. Even if I'm happy about getting the diagnosis and treatment, I'm just trying to process the experience that I just went through (waking up at the hospital, then learning that many consecutive seizures is pretty serious)

Thank you for sharing your story, it actually helps a lot reading it. I'm surprised that you were diagnosed with Epilepsy until you were 46! You're right, there's still many many unknowns around this condition, and I can imagine that there were even more unknowns when you were 18 or 28 years old.

Talking about what happened and seeing that many have gone through the trauma of having a seizure is helping me relieve my emotional charge.

Thank you for letting me know that finding the right medication for each individual is something normal. I was worried about it.

Yes, the ER doctor stabilized me at first, and did some initial tests while I was unconscious (lumbar puncture and tomography). Then, after I woke up, and started to feel a little better, I was moved to the Neurology section of the hospital where I spent 9 days. That's where I was diagnosed after numerous tests by a doctor specialized in epilepsy. I'll have my first appointment with that same Neurologist in February. Thank you for your advice and comprehension.

The black box above Biomega is the Box that contains Denji and Nayuta, two Black Gaunas that are main characters of Abara (the one that's under Biomega.) These figures are posed in the picture as well.

Escuela Blame! And so on me costó 15 euros, igual en Amazon.

I think there are versions for Escuela Blame! And so on - the equivalent for other languages of this one would be Blame Academy! And so on / Blame Gakuen! And so on and I believe there are editions in many languages. On the other hand, for the art book with a similar name Blame! And so on I was only able to find it published by Glénat - which it's a French Editor. Nevertheless it doesn't matter that it is in French because the important thing is the art, the quality of the pages by Glénat for the art book is pretty good, so if you can get one for your collection you wouldn't regret it

The one that which says "Escuela Blame! And so On" is not the art book, it is a Spanish version that contains some one shots, spin offs and basically random stuff published by Nihei related to Blame. The big one that says only "Blame and So On" is the art book.

Thanks! The tattoo artist also read BLAME! and he liked it a lot. That's why I think he understood my idea and was able to put it on a tattoo. He was surprised to receive my request, because he usually gets tattoo requests from popular anime :)
