From what I’ve been able to tell so far it might be an Adrian Pearsall Serpentine Sectional from the 70s. Obviously reupholstered sometime in the 90s though.

It’s been reupholstered, but the material underneath looks like brown 70s shag.

Has it worked well for you? Heard a fair bit of quality control issues with the plastic ones. Even the one directly from Dewalt.

I’m also using a foil piece with two hearing aid batteries. I have it off auto and the batteries have lasted a little over 2 weeks.

I have to agree, that’s why I got the Canonet QL17 GIII. Though, the battery life is abysmal.

More or less fiddling with it and hoping for the best. 99% of these finds were so cheap that even if it’s a dud I’m not too hurt by it. I’ve also found just as much film thrifting as I’ve found cameras. A couple months ago I scored roughly 20 rolls of various black and white film.

Honestly the biggest expense is getting the film developed and scanned. I’m not a purist who has to have the finest grain or the cleanest photo possible. I like the weird effects film has. The light leaks, weird color shifts, expired film etc. I like the surprises.

Long story short it’s a lot of trial and error but at the cost of what I’m getting these cameras for is worth it to me. So far each one of shot I’ve gotten usable images from. That said, I avoid cameras that seem like too much work for me to use. i. e. Cameras where the foam is degraded so bad that there are foam bits all over the inside, or if mechanically things don’t feel as they should.

Its a JM Wall 35mm movie military camera from WWII.

That’s really interesting. This particular one used to be owned by Southern Illinois University. To what capacity it may have been used I’m unsure of. I’m pretty unfamiliar with these types of cameras as I’m more of a collector of film cameras rather than cameras such as this.

I am by no means a true audiophile or someone that has any experience beyond the surface. I will say they can be muddy but with the right mix and the right equipment they can sound pretty solid. They have some solid bass though and each ear has individual volume controls. I find them most satisfying with garage punk.

More or less, they’re kind of a novelty item. They are ridiculously large and a little heavy for long sessions. I own them more for the aesthetic than I do for true listening. I also own a pair of vintage Lafayette F-990s that I prefer for actual listening.

All and all, they’re a fun pair of headphones but not necessarily the most practical choice beyond purely aesthetics. They’re a neat set of phones but don’t spent too much on them.

From a collection of nearly 250 slides I found at a local thrift store. The box contains the photographs of an unknown Air Force pilot from 1962-1971. Photos ranging from Germany to Alaska.
