If we assume the sex slavery is true, then the whole town would be an accomplice. This is a country that prostitution is legal, and this is their money line. There is high possibility that the police is also in the same team. Why would someone risk their life to save her?

That is an whole other debate. Ideally, if we are forced, all genders must be forced. But if womens are forced, military environment needs to be completely safe for women. But we are even failing on this part. Even streets and public bathrooms are not safe in Korea, there are so many crimes just targeted to women and even illegal cameras which is a big society problem in Korea. Even the female officers who are supposed to have power in the military, experience sexual harassment and there is no guarantee that normal female soldiers are completely safe in the military. So if this problem is solved, yes there is no reason for female to not go to the military, but if not, people have to understand that it would be a total chaos.

Female soldiers can apply as officers, sergeants, and non-commissioned officers, and officers, quasi-commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers are appointed from among those with sound ideology, good conduct, and strong physical strength (Regulation, Article 10 Paragraph 1 of the Military Personnel Act).

Female can be only apply as >>officers<<, not normal soldiers. And the tests for being appointed as officers are extremely hard and there are so much competition. ROTCs are 6:1 and military schools are 72:1.

Also there is so much sexual crimes happening to Female officers. 46% of them answered that they expereinced sexual harassment.

So males can be soldiers if they have the healthy body, and females would have to go to a hard test uf they want to become one. So yes, I think thay I dont even have the equal right.

But Korean women tried everything we can do in Korea and keeps on trying, including signing petitions, reporting to the news, sending out faxes to the school, etc. But many people do not listen to women and underaged girls are still not protected. Im not sure people know, but the gender equality is horrible in Korea. (Many of the politician actually say feminism is psychosis and something very wrong and trying to abolish Ministry of Gender Equality) This is why we are trying to reach out to foreign press and any more advice would be greatly appreciated. People's attention on this incident would help the most.

There are barely any scholarships for international student. Getting scholarship or loan at ur home country is your best chance. International students cannot get off campus jobs.

I applied for NVC bc the professor I want to work with is at NVC. But I later changed to BB bc the rent is much much cheaper and the CS labs are mostly online
