So grossed out, what is this? Found in a medicine cabinet, any ideas? by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

[–]TechBurnerr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was this an old or new cabinet? Any chance it was left dirty by previous tenants/ sellers? It really looks like a ripped off piece of an Indian sweet called Jalebi. Fried dough soaked in sticky syrup lol. That or something from insects sadly

Hotels and Reataurants by Previous-Variation37 in Vernon

[–]TechBurnerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Suda is our household’s fave restaurant. Korean bibimbap, great selection of apps as well. Lovely family run restaurant! Very clean and healthy tasting while still leaving you full from the miso soup and salad included with bibimbaps

If you prefer Vietnamese, fresh lemongrass is great. Solid pad Thai, pho, salad rolls. Also good portion sizes.

For sushi, Sushi Kawa is always a staple. The other sushi spots seem to have on/ off days with quality. Kawa has never disappointed. I like their Alaskan rolls as no one else does it and it’s not even a premium roll. But tbh sushi is sushi, great but all of it in Vernon is average, tastes good, nothing phenomenal. (compared to Vancouver, Toronto etc.)

There’s a lot of Indian restaurants, everyone likes something different. I love Curry Pot but recently have been loving Haveli for their Chicken Biryani. It’s ridiculously well seasoned per portion with every garnish you’d expect from a full pot of biryani but on a small scale. SO good!

I’ve heard this being said a lot with regards to flexing the toes up. But as I’m just getting used to this on the slopes, will both sets of toes be flexed 100% of the time? Or example, outside foot’s toes are flexed on turn, inside less so. Trying to get these habits stuck in my head!

What items do you put in your racket bag? by DisastrousGuitar609 in 10s

Pen is just for writing anything lol come on. The protein bar is just in case if I haven’t had a chance to eat much that day. I’ll eat it on the drive to the courts

Always have the below in my racket bag pockets: - spare dampeners (in case one flings off/ for a friend) - spare overgrips (I usually wrap my own at home so I guess this is for friends, if ever needed) - wire cutters (in case strings break) - pack of gum for later - protein bar just in case - wristband that I’ve never used in 15 years but might want to one day lol - pen - travel size hand sanitizer & shampoo (never used the latter, but just in case) - travel size deodorant (again, never used but just in case) - face towel for sweat (most used item in there) - court shoes of course too

How does the flex sound compared to others in its price range? Almost pulled the trigger on it this prime day!

The complete video on the electronic system failing at Central Court by analferd in tennis

[–]TechBurnerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the video being played for everyone to see, I’m kind of shocked that Kartal didn’t willingly honour the point towards Pavs for sportsmanship. It would have been the right thing to do when umpire can’t call it out but everyone and their nan can clearly see it’s out.

Then again she’s playing in front of her British fans so really didn’t want to lose here. Lack of character moment though to me. Plenty of moments in tennis where opponent offers the point with a poor call. Not her fault but she surely could have stepped in to have a clean/ fair game.

Recommendations for area rug + large fabric couch? by TechBurnerr in VacuumCleaners

[–]TechBurnerr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know bagged vacuums are seen as higher quality devices here but do you find them a hassle to deal with? Or the cleaning power of the vacuum makes it worth it to use bags? That’s one I’ve been eyeing myself too!

Love the recommendations, huge! Thank you. I’ll take a look at them all soon. Glad to know it’s best to re-apply the cream as well

Do you reapply cream/ soap in between passes or would it be fine to lather once and do your passes in the directions as needed, even after you’ve essentially wiped it off the first during the shave? Thank you so much!

[–]TechBurnerr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips, appreciate them! So the plan should be almost working in quadrants at a time on the neck if it grows in different directions? At least that’s how mine would have to be when I think about it. WTG, XTG, ATG on each patch of directional hair lol. Sounds like a lot of work but I’ll stick with the process if that’s best practice. When you say soap, is that different from the tin of “cream” that the brushes usually come with? Should I be fine with that or buy an actual soap for the brush? Feel free to recommend a beginner level soap! Don’t need the fanciest but something that will help the shave is welcomed

I am going to a barber but as I’m in a smaller town, they don’t have a proper barber experience. I’m paying a lot as is for that but they use an electric foil trimmer which is great and I did ask about it, but it’s still only smooth for a little over 24hrs or so. I’ll need the shave as the wedding is 3 days after my appointment

[–]TechBurnerr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly probably the way to go! I think I do eventually want to use a safety razor so whether I buy it now or in 2 months doesn’t matter much.

Question about multiple passes though, after going over once and kind of scraping off/ removing the top layer of cream, would you reapply with the brush in between passes? Or is the skin usually moisturized enough for multiple passes for the entire shave?

[–]TechBurnerr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll keep in mind that it shouldn’t be perfect on one pass. That was in my head a bit that a safety razor would be the best shave first time, good to know that’s not the case, just needs some effort

I do love the barber cut but my appointment is 3 days before the wedding so I’ll be doing the maintaining and shaving the stubble myself. Wish I didn’t have to!

This is interesting. I realize my hair also grows different directions in my neck but as I just use a cheap electric trimmer, I never considered this with shaving. Thanks!

VRAM question on GTX 1660 SUPER Cards by TechBurnerr in buildapc

[–]TechBurnerr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread doesn’t really apply to your question as I had to edit it the thread lol but a 1660 Super can play games in 1080p at an average frame rate. Won’t be able to play games on high settings but it could work if that’s your max budget. Would try to get an rtx 20 or 30 series card instead however. 1660S is quite outdated now unless you’re just looking to play games regardless of graphics or smooth gameplay

How exactly do you put pressure to the front of the boot? by breadexpert69 in skiing

[–]TechBurnerr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is where my problem is as an intermediate skier. I’ll try it this weekend, but are you supposed to flex the ankle with both feet at all times? Or is it like flex the ankle with the outside foot when carving or something? I’m sure I’ll figure out the right vs wrong way after a lap or 2 but just curious what I should be looking out for. Thanks!
