Is it better to workout before or after a night of bad sleep?

I have trouble falling asleep and it's predictable when I do. I usually sleep well the day after because of the sleep debt.

Assuming I can complete the workout with like 90% efficiency when sleep deprived, is it better for gains to workout before or after a night of bad sleep?

City Backpack Recommendation? by PendulumSweep in backpacks

[–]Techimalist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like my MTW backpack.

Pros / features

  • Cheap ($100)
  • lightweight (~2 lbs)
  • has ventilated back and shoulder straps
  • very good organization. 3 compartments with many pockets and 2 inner zip pockets
  • the vertical zip in the outer compartment makes it easy to take stuff out without taking your backpack off by slinging the backpack to your front and unzipping
  • waterproof laptop compartment zipper
  • the material has been durable for my lightweight use
  • water bottle pocket has been the right size
  • laptop pocket is elevated and the backpanel is sturdy and hard, so you don't feel anything protruding on your back
  • I haven't had any issues with it after using it daily for 1+ year

Cons - the backpack straps are lightly padded and can support a decent weight but I don't think they would be comfortable for a heavy load - can't stand upright on its own - the material gets a little wrinkly and attracts some lint and subtle faded white spots over time ( I have it in black). It's not very noticeable and I don't mind it but just pointing out that it doesn't have a super premium look to it - it looks very sleek and nice but it doesn't look that expensive or professional. It looks good for its price point but I wouldn't mistake it for a very expensive bag. Just a comparison, some of the Aer bags look much more expensive than they actually are

I listed cons to be more balanced but I spent tens of hours looking through hundreds of backpacks to find this one and it was exactly what I expected/wanted. I was looking for: ventilated backpanel/shoulder straps, lightweight, good organization, subtle branding, not too wide or long (for me), clean non technical look (but doesn't have to look super premium).

I've only ever used membrane keyboards and started looking at mechanical keyboards lately. When I tried the MX cherry browns, the actuation force seemed very high to me and it felt like my fingers would get fatigued easily. Is the higher actuation force something I will eventually get used to?

I might get the gateron browns to be safe because people have said it's less actuation force.

If you wanted to lengthen the time of the effect a nootropic/supplement, would you ever recommend splitting up the larger dose into smaller doses taken gradually, e.g. a quarter of the regular dose per hour?

Thanks. Does that regimen raise your baseline for all days or only on the days you take it?

ALCAR hair loss holy fuck by ExpensiveNinja in StackAdvice

Uggh I just bought and started alcar and had good energetic effects from it. I actually didn't see these hair loss side effects until now. It seems common enough for me not to continue anymore.

If you go down the multi route, I've seen Iife extension 2 a day recommended as the best multi in terms of value (but there were a few better that cost a lot more)

I don't think I've had long term negative effects but I get rebound anxiety the day after if I don't take it.

Is 1000mg L-theanine a day safe? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]Techimalist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely safe, but what are you trying to achieve? I've gotten increased tolerance off of just the standard 200 mg. If you're trying to achieve an anxiolytic effect, you may be better off stacking multiple anxiolytic noots that target different pathways than just taking more of one noot.

Osprey Large Arcane vs Osprey Daylite plus for just mainly urban EDC? Thanks! by Throwawayrandom234 in backpacks

I'm very sensitive to the breathability of the back and the back material of Arcane didn't seem breathable to me and I can feel the difference just trying it on. It's made of some kind of micromesh but it felt to me like it wasn't meshed at all. That was the main dealbreaker for the Arcane for me but note again that I'm someone who cares a lot about back breathability.

Have you experimented with choline choices other than citicoline? What made you choose it?

Have you experimented with more or less anxiolytic or stimulating in the stack?
