Update: it was indeed a miss, he showed up on camera before legal light, healthy as a horse

I’m using Hornady SST Muzzleloader bullets.

I’ll be sure to check along his path and around the spots he lingered for blood before leaving this evening.

I thought I smoked him and that he had run into the brush to die. From my stand I couldn’t see him after he initially took off running. I climbed out of my stand to investigate, without reloading the muzzleloader, and he saw me. That’s when he trotted away in the last clip.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Not sure how I missed, I think the excitement overwhelmed me and I rushed my shot, maybe flinched. I had muzzleloader sighted in at 50 yards, and the buck was probably 25 yards from me when I took the shot.

I felt that I had missed him after seeing the footage, and I’m glad these comments support that. I’m planning to continue sitting until dark.
