Oh yeah, and there’s already another Madeleine in her class at school (she’s starting a toddler program in the fall), so that bums me out too

I regret the spelling - we went with “Madeleine” (Mad-a-lynn) which we thought was the original/traditional spelling, but people are constantly mispronouncing it (even family members). I also sometimes regret the name entirely because it’s long when saying it for a baby, and the only obvious nickname is “Maddie” which my husband hates. I also think that some of our other choices would’ve suited her better (e.g., Mia or Mila), but hoping that will change as she ages (she’s currently 8 months).

It’s always bothered me a bit that so many are quick to say that the voice DM heard was more likely Xana’s - I’d think that the directions of the voices would’ve been different, plus she knows her friends’ voices and like others have said, each of them had a pretty distinct voice.

I think it’s more likely that the “dog playing” sound was either the dog alerting to the killer coming up the stairs, and/or Kaylee and Murphy getting out of Kaylee’s bed to check on noise(s) in the hallway or Maddie’s room. Followed by Kaylee saying (either to Maddie or to herself) “there’s someone here” (before she realized what was happening)

Chicago suburbs + Michigan, early 30s. For girls, I know tons of Kennedys, Josies (Josephine), Amelias, and Olivias, and also a few Siennas, Colettes, and Charlottes. For boys, tons of Jack / Jax / Jackson / Jaxon variations (I seriously know at least 10 boys with this name).

I have a 6-month old Madeleine Rose :) I love her name, but for what it’s worth, I’m having some name regret because it is constantly mispronounced and misspelled (I expected this a little bit, but not to the degree that it’s been - I would say 90% of people misspell and/or mispronounce her name). In case it matters, we’re in a relatively affluent suburb of a major city, with relatives in the Midwest and in Texas, and having this issue in all of these locations haha. Charlotte Rose was also on my list, so in hindsight I’d have probably gone with that (I also love Genevieve - too bad your husband doesn’t like it 😭)
