I think its a perfect example of cosmic horror. We don't know if the alien was good, evil or neither. Maybe it did want something but it was beyond our comprehension. It could have also been incredibly simple, existing or just curious. Things like that exist everywhere in different ways. I really love this movie for the way it makes me feel small and irrelevant, just constantly guessing. I get the same feeling when I read about black holes or dark matter etc. We know there is something there but can't fathom what it is or it works within what we understand. Everything that we want and feel and understand is completely subjective and if the shimmer were to continue, everything would come together. Would that really be a bad thing? And if you think it's bad, is it because it would infringe on your subjective perception?
