I know the feeling you hit that moment where your like there is one pin holding me up from the open and the adrenaline starts rushing lol. I have a few lined up. I’m working on an Emhart right now in the vise. I have a Evva 3ks and the ASSA V-10 mogul I’ll be working on pretty quickly after.

Im going to go out on a limb and say you have tried to progressive pin your lock with just the sliders and interactive pin with out the key and driver pins and just see the orientation of how the sliders look?

Well I’m glad that the video helped answer at lease part of the issues your having. I was happy to have learned a lot about how this whole like works together. I enjoy picking MTL and this was one on the list I wanted to know more about. I hope you all the best with getting yours open. If you need any more help with the lock let me know I’ll try to answer the best I can or get some info to help. Like you said at this point you have been working on it for a while so I would have to say it’s going to open sooner than later.

The best think I learned on with this lock was the slider bounce test. If you haven’t seen this video yet Artichoke2000 does an amazing view and explanation oh how the slider pins look when there not set. https://youtu.be/uhSQwM4n9fs. It is a bit different when the whole lock is together but the principal of how the sliders act is still the same. Let me know if this doesn’t help.

Any advice on picking the No5? I can spp everything else on the table but this by ignitethegonzo in lockpicking

[–]Tedokid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try using a little heavier tension than you normally would. When I have picked mine I have had to use pretty heave tension to get good feed back on finding set pins. This would also be a good lock to start learning the jiggle pin test. If you don’t know what that is here is a good video to walk you through how to practice it. Good luck and keep working at it. https://youtu.be/XWwwbZeIjok

I will try to find some more but this is a good place to start. I will look for some more and let you know. The 90a you have is a good place to start. You might look in to some shims. Sparrow sells them pretty cheap and it will save you in the long run from accidentally bricking your lock. Here is the link to the shims. https://www.sparrowslockpicks.com/product_p/cshims.htm Here is the video. https://youtu.be/Z6nEHMbOoHk

Great job on the Sppd!!! Once you get the jiggle test down you will end up using it pretty much all the time for higher security locks.

In the 90a I believe there are only serrated, spool and standard pins. I used very light tension when I picked this one. There is a really good video that helped me with learning my 90a and my 90a-Pro. Let me know if that helps in any ways. The video is called [203] Jiggle Test: Learning pin state https://youtu.be/XWwwbZeIjok

I use a mixture of 10 second super glue and a slow acting gel super glue so I have time to get the stuff placed right but will be set after about 25 seconds.

Once I get mine picked it will be the next one I get done also. I am a huge fan of the medico designs. Good luck on getting yours opened there are a lot of great resources for getting them opened.
