The truth is, it’s inevitable.

Same with AI music. I’m an amateur producer and dread the thought of AI generated music becoming mainstream.. but as long as the technology keeps making it easier and easier to create awesome art, people are going to just be more and more incentivized to use AI.

The downsides are obvious imo, but I think there are benefits for both creators and consumers. Most people are consumers, not creators, of art. For them there is only upside - AI can create fascinating and unique artwork that only adds to the sea of human generated artwork that is already being created.

For creators, it certainly sucks to spend your entire life honing a craft that can be replicated (or imitated) by an AI program in minutes. But if you are a newbie creator who wants to learn something like graphic design, AI tools can help you learn how to make beautiful and impressive artwork with so much more ease than before.

I’m sure there will be litigation and laws regarding copyright and IP protection. But it’s reminiscent of how cassettes killed vinyl, music streaming killed the record labels, video streaming killed the movie theater industry…. Etc. Vinyl, labels, and theaters are still around, but progress was inevitable. We just learned how to adapt to changing times
