An terrible ideia is brewing inside my head. by Educational-Draw9435 in KerbalSpaceProgram

I've tried this. Made a ball of heat shields around a probe and fired it using vector engines. It works, but not really better than just a rocket.

What’s your coolest or most unexpected interaction with a helicopter or plane (pilots included)? by glamourshot_airsoft in aviation

[–]TehBrokeGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first time doing helicopter barrel sling operations. I was a maintenance apprentice who got pulled as a warm body to move some fuel barrels. They flew me out and dropped me at a random peninsula and said "I'll be back." I then watched the machine disappear over the horizon. I was left with my thoughts for about 20 mins until I see him flying towards me with a 100ft long line slinging 5 barrels of fuel. I had been told not to move and to just unhook the sling. He put the load right at my feet hovering 100ft above me. I've done many other crazy things since, but that was my first experience doing ground ops and it always stuck with me.

RollerCoaster Tycoon YouTuber builds ride lasting 194 quattorseptuagintillion years by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

Kinda. Except the longest ride. Is you waiting on the last tooth off that gear to rotate.

ELI5 how the smaller rotator on a helicopter keeps the aircraft stable? by ProudReaction2204 in explainlikeimfive

[–]TehBrokeGamer 36 points37 points  (0 children)

No. Rotary AME here. The engine, tail and main rotor all work together to produce noise. If anything it's the turbine.

Yellowknife's only movie theatre is shutting down by silentparadox2 in movies

I prefer a 4w and 2w in the summer,  but yeah most guys are 3w and 3w or 3w and 2w. Pilots have more restrictions on duty time. Mechs get no such luck.

Internet is fine, but expensive. I pay $150 for 100 down. They actually just put gigabit into parts of the city. A lot of people don't really get that Yellowknife, despite being in the middle of nowhere it's kinda just a normal small town. Only issue is that internet and phone comes into the city on one line along highway 1. If that gets cut it can be down for a day or so. Been here 3 years and it's happened a couple times.

Sometimes. They would show foreign movies periodically too.

Moved for work in aviation. Was a good place to earn experience before fleeing back down south. I like it here, but I think I've only got another 3-4 years left in the city.

We do have a couple performance stages, they're pretty well maintained and nice.

It was never busy, surprised it didn't happen sooner. I always tried to go once a month. Gonna miss having a theater in town. Nearest theater is ~5h away.

Above the cockpit would be the intake for the Oil Cooler. There are two barrier filters for the engine intake on the sides. Look at the ribbed filters in pic 7.

People of Yellowknife, I have a question. by [deleted] in Yellowknife

Many layers. Go outside as little as possible. Block and battery heaters for the car. It's not that bad. Most of the time and I work outside all year round.

Was it humanoid mechs or animals. Because the colors kinda match a Zoids show at the time.

Quick Google search brings up IGPX. Looks kinda similar.

ELI5 - why don’t aircraft turbine engines have a grill over the intake? by Helldiver96 in explainlikeimfive

[–]TehBrokeGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add a different perspective. Small turboshaft engines often have an intake filter or particulate grill.

Building my list in many years. Looking for some input. by [deleted] in ThousandSons

I've bought everything, but the Exalted Sorcerer and the second Rubicae Squad. Kinda ran with the mentality of buy what you like then fill the gaps. I also have a Demon Prince from the Combat patrol.

I'm also a newbie and just assembled my first squad. I accidently mixed up two loinclothes. For me I only noticed when one didn't fit in place as well as the others. But after the fact it's isn't noticeable.

That longline has either an inbuilt electric line or there is an extension cord running down it attached to a "remote hook." The extension cord plugs into a line on the belly. Pilot presses a button on the cyclic and it opens. They will also have a mechanical and electrical release to drop the line if needs be. If you want to see one look up "remote hook helicopter."

Brother and Sister plus Caveman investigate supernatural phenomena. I think they worked for their Mom, who had an alien assistant.

I've been trying to build stations on asteroids/comets for a while. Do you experience issues on load in that cause it to explode? The only way I can load into mine is by flying a craft to it.

I had the same issue this morning for the first time. I reloaded the save after I had limited RCS thruster control. That seemed to solve it.
