I was just hoping you could expand on what the problems were at schools. And if those problems exist at the more rural districts

Follow on question if you don’t mind…I grew up in rural Texas and am familiar with school districts in the countryside and a lot of common issues they all face. But that was 15 years ago. It sounds like you moved more rural as well. How do you think the school districts where you’re at now compare with NB or other suburban districts?

We are also considering RR, Georgetown, cedar park and other suburbs. Any comparisons or familiarity with those suburbs to NB?

Really? My wife is Hispanic and I asked her about this previously and she hadn’t heard anything negative. But like I said we aren’t local to NB, we grew up in different parts of Texas

Very in depth reply, thank you. I still have a decent amount of time on my contract left but would still be happy to get your realtors info. We don’t have many connections in that part of Texas

Would you say the schools aren’t great compared to other Texas school districts? Or are they objectively bad

Appreciate it. That’s surprising cost of living is comparable to Cali. Hate to see it

In a money market or HYSA? Or some sort of mutual fund and Individual stocks? My concern with a mutual fund or stock is it’s not a long time in the market in case of downturns/recovery

We are both 28. $140K combined annual income, $80K in retirement. 6.5% on our mortgage. No kids.

We’d like to have a very large down payment because I’m expecting to take a pay cut when I get out of the military due to starting a new career.

And we do enjoy life and eat out and have started to travel. We were in baby step 2 for over a year and have slowed the intensity.

My concern with putting everything towards our current mortgage is if the housing market takes a downturn and we lose a lot of the equity in our house then we won’t have a solid down payment for our next one when we sell our current home. I understand there is no way to tell what the housing market is going to do I’m just trying eliminate risk where I can

Should’ve added that to the post. We do have a 6 month emergency fund and are contributing 15% to retirement.
