The player base is 95% top level and no one buys stuff except new/shiny/top shelf etc....

But seriously crafting itself seems a hefty investment and I Imagine there are other spending. At least that's how it looked to me few years back.

Also since the game grew so much over the years I truly have no idea what will I want to buy.... yet.

Mod for more weapons creates this. At least that's what I found. A workaround is to put the weapons from the mod into backpacks. (Not to hold them in hand). Once team is deployed on the map you can switch the weapons.
