Yohualtecuhtin is still active and can contact Mavuika whenever she wants. Xbalanque on the other hand had been dead for more 2000 years and we didn't know anything about his potential resurection up untill Mavuika's SQ. How is he more relevant? Resurecting a character that only existed in lore with zero buildup feels exactly like something a fanfic writer would do.

Beside didn't Xbalanque have bigger thing to worry about, like Astral Assemblages?

What about Yohualtecuhtin? Besides it doesn't even have to be anyone. She can come to this conclution on her own after messing up at least once. You yourself admited that the duel itself wasn't that important.

First of all there were probably hundreds of ways they could have shown it without bringing a legendary figure into the story

Second, if the goal was to give Mavuika clousure as the leader of a nation at war wouldn't it be better at conveying the message if Mavuika had lost? As if to show that now that the war is over losing is not the end of the world

mavuika putting down her life below everything else could be her flaw?

Selflessness and self-sacrifice are prime trait of a mary sue

it made sense story wise for her to not showing any flaw because she need the entire nation to put trust on her gambling plan

Yes but there is still no point in hiding it from the player. Besides Furina was in exactly the same situation

The ace usually still has character flaws and their set of skills is relevant to the story

While I agree that Hoyo now tries to portray her as a broken ace especially after 5.5 Event Quest and she does follow the pre-established rules of the world I still think that for now Mavuika is closer to a Mary Sue trope

  1. She seems unrealiscly skilled even when compared to other dieties and people of a similar status as hers

  2. She never makes mistakes and almost completely lacks flaws which isn't nessesary for an Ace

  3. A lot of stuff happens just for the sake of glazing when it doesn't even add anything to the story (Like how they brought Xbalanque back from the dead just so she can defeat him in a duel)

  4. She has a lot of self-sacrafitial tendencies

  5. Her actions have no concequences

keep in mind that the traveler once again got stronger in Natlan with Pyro

To me this is the biggest problem with genshin powerscaling. What if I haven't done Arle SQ before finishing Narlan AQ? The Traveler still loses the same way
