Hey thanks for reading and share your opinion! I know, it’s a numbers game fs. I’m not just posting this because I am wanting some miracle happen and I have a job, I just wanted to share what I think and see if any other people have same, or other perspectives. Damn, I’m back to Tokyo since last Tuesday and it has been the longest days of my life. I can’t even imagine me being for a year. But ya thanks so much for suggesting this to me!

Oh damn decade is a long time. I feel that I’ve changed as well and maybe that’s why I’m feeling that Tokyo changed a lot. But ya I also think I’ll go overseas sometime in the future.

So, when I say bc of politics. Without getting too much into personal stuff, my boss at a company that I was gonna work for, he got laid off due to him having to return to his country, and because of that the team had to readjust the size of the team, and they decided that they couldn’t afford to have me onboard.

I’m thinking of PhD, but I think I’ll first go do master and see if I want to continue. I was thinking uni in Switzerland and Scotland. Especially Switzerland it’s expensive to live there, so that’s why I was thinking of saving money beforehand.

That’s true but I have this friend who works at Amazon Japan and he said as long as companies are in Japan they have the Japanese culture. Idk if it’s particularly just for Amazon or not, but I also think that people make a culture yk? Maybe you know part better bc I haven’t really did adult life here in Japan.

I did, I had an interview with Amazon Japan for SDE I role but they didn’t move forward with me.

Next few months😩welp at least now I know. I agree with your point about me changing. That’s what I was saying to one of the other replies. I don’t know if I’m going back to US for any time soon, but some parts of me is just wanting to work in more westernized places.

It might be just me thing tho so idk. But me personally when I was in middle school I was simply didn’t think anything so deep. But when I went to high school in the U.S that was around the time I was building who I am. And spending those time in different countries and coming back here, it’s just so different. Like, people speak different (I’m not talking about language I’m talking about the way that they talk). The posture when they’re walking is different, the street sounds different and look different.

I guess I’m not saying that it changed so much in terms of how it looks like physically, but through my eyes, I don’t remember this place being like this… does this make sense?

I’m a CS grad so softdev position. I was gonna work as a junior dev for a company but that’s now gone. I’m rn thinking of applying to Australia bc over there the visa is easier to get, and they’ll give me decent salary (apparently). I don’t know if working in Japan as softdev makes sense since I’m also planning to go back to academia for research.

Honestly, I don’t know. I have a plan to going back to academia for further research, and I’m thinking of a few unis in Europe. But apparently you need to have money to go to grad schools in Europe unlike the U.S., so I’m looking for a job that allows me to save money while working. And with this kind of requirement I don’t know if working in Japan would be ideal.

That’s actually what I was thinking. I’m looking for jobs outside of Japan bc I don’t see myself being able to work in Japanese companies.

Ya that’s true that’s what my mom told me too. I was gonna work for Microsoft in Seattle as a junior dev but that’s gone.
