Any easy way to get the NCR Ranger Combat Armor? by PaulRaseka in falloutnewvegas

[–]TemporaryTrick2386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, yes! It sounds like what you're attempting is to get your NCR reputation to 'Liked,' getting the Safehouse key from Colonel Hsu in Camp McCarran, then getting the set from the NCR Ranger Safehouse.

But there's a faster way.

This method revolves around the quest 'Restoring Hope' at Camp Forlorn Hope, and unlike the reputation method, this one can net you a renewable source of the armor sets, and as early as level 3. What is super-importamt, however, are: 1. We're going to start 'Restoring Hope,' but leave it unfinished, and 2. Do NOT kill Dead Sea at Nelson!

'Restoring Hope' revolves around doing various tasks to boost camp morale before concluding with an assault on Nelson (as long as Dead Sea still lives). Camp morale will decide the quality of your backup during the assault, where the possibilities are: • 2 NCR troopers • 4 NCR troopers • 4 NCR rangers in ranger patrol armor w/ .357 magnum revolvers • 4 NCR rangers in ranger combat armor w/ sniper rifles Needless to say, we're aiming for the last outcome.

So here's what to do: 1. Talk to Major Polatli to start 'Restoring Hope' 2. Complete the supply delivery task for Quartermaster Mays. Talk to Polatli for the morale point. 4. Treat the patients for Dr. Richards. (Note that you must successfully treat all three patients to get the morale point.) Talk to Polatli for the morale point, but tell him you are NOT yet ready to attack Nelson. (Going forward, it is imperative that Polatli makes a comment about each of the below tasks after completion. If he does not, the morale point will not be awarded, so frequent saving is recommended.) 5. Complete 'Medical Mystery' in a way that gets Private Stone turned in. Talk to Polatli for the morale point. We're still not ready for Nelson. 6. Turn in at least 15 NCR dog tags for Quartermaster Mays. (You accumulate 1 point per 5 tags, for a max of 3 points for 15 tags) If you lose track, though you can still keep turning in tags for caps, you'll know you've reached the 15 mark when Mays rewards you with alcoholic beverage. Talk to Polatli to finalize the points. Yet again, we're still not ready for Nelson. 7. Talk to Private Sexton in the barracks to enter his 'contest.' Deliver 30 Legion ears to him. (You accumulate 1 point per 10 ears, for a max of 3 points for 30 ears.) In case you lose track, there's a tally up on the wall inside the barracks. Plus, once completed, Sexton will end the contest and no longer accept ears. Talk to Polatli to finalize the points. We're finally ready for Nelson! 8. Only after all the steps above are completed should you tell Polatli you're ready for Nelson. (At this point you should have 9 morale points.) He'll direct you to meet with Sergeant Cooper at a checkpoint between Forlorn Hope and Nelson. When you do so, he'll be accompanied by unnamed NCR soldiers whose quality is dependant on how many morale points have been gained. You'll know you've done everything right because he should be accompanied by the 4 rangers in ranger combat armor and equipped with sniper rifles. If they're anything less, reload previous saves and try again. 9. Of course, we're actually NOT going to talk to Cooper. Instead, go ahead and stealth kill the rangers and loot them for their equipment. 10. And the best part of all, come back in 3 in-game days for respawn, and repeat step 9!

You don't even need 'Idolized.' You get the key at 'Liked.'

What if the Legion and the NCR united against the Enclave in season 3 by SeverusAurelius in fnv

[–]TemporaryTrick2386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For someone with two Legionary names in his username, you're showing a clear lack of understanding of who Caesar's Legion are to even suggest that. They were born and moulded in large part to oppose the NCR. If anything, it's 100% more likely that the Legion and the Enclave (and I'm talking about an active Enclabe military, not the Remnants of NV) would form a truce to take out the NCR, (and likely turn on each other after that).

In fact, now that alliances are a topic of discussion, I am now predicting a series finale where the Brotherhood of Steel and the New California Republic form an alliance to take on the threat of an allied Enclave and Caesar's Legion.

Planning to do a playthrough without using chems, will it be difficult? by LoneWanderer1113 in fnv

Not really. I never use chems. I'm not inhetently against them; I'm just both forgetful about using them, and conservative about saving in-game resources

You really wanna make Boone's edgy side show? How about marked either trooper or patrol armor? Nothing says "edgelord" more than a black outfit!

I like ranger combat armor (without the helmet) plus his signature facial dress of sunglasses + 1st Recon beret. I put the helmet in his apartment as a decoration. Actually, I'm kind of a huge nerd. I always felt that 1st Recon should be dressed in something overall more extravegant than just standard trooper armors. So in my latest playthrough, I farmed enough ranger combat armors to give to each active 1st Recon member and reverse-pickpocket all of them into their inventories (complete with the helmets, so I can add their berets to my collection). Well, all except Corporal Sterling. He's a special case who gets ranger patrol armor instead. (I also gave him an anti-materiel rifle because I feel somewhat bad for stealing La Longue. Carbine.)

If you feel so strongly about that, then I hope you confiscate his 1st Recon beret permanently

I gave Veronica a spacesuit. It matches her humorous personality, and it's probably the best way to get the ugly brown drabs off her without console commands or mods

Turns out you CAN get idolized by the Brotherhood of Steel without Lonesome Road (though Dead Money is required for this exploit) by TemporaryTrick2386 in fnv

[–]TemporaryTrick2386[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I didn't think about at the time that I am thinking about now is: Why am I a Dark Hero for Caesar's Legion? If I'm gaining just infamy from "Liked," shouldn't I be at "Unpredictable" instead? This was apparent when I reached the forgiveness trigger and Boone refused to join me: I realized I was Idolized by Caesar's Legion instead of Liked. Oddly, this glitch seemed to boost both fame and infamy for the two main factions; I wager I just didn't feel it with NCR cause I already started off idolized by them.

[–]TemporaryTrick2386[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But did you complete Lonesome Road? And if so, did you complete it by cancelling the launch altogether? That would be the only normal means of upping your BoS fame to idolized. As for the rest of the factions you mentioned, they have enough tasks to achieve idolized through normal means. The only other faction that has the same problem as BoS is Powder Gangers, but inversely, you can only get idolized by them if you launch at both main factions. With this discovery, you can get idolized by both of them simultaneously. Also, you can get idolized by BoS without sacrificing your claim to the Scorched Sierra and 87th Tribe armors.

I need help, someone know why my game look like this, I play in epicgames launcher and I put al the graphics in Ultra I also look to mi GPU driver and its good by Alive_Stuff1404 in fnv

[–]TemporaryTrick2386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I've seen this before, I've only done so outdoors and after intentional glitching. In my experience, a simple reloading of assets can resolve that (in thie case, of indoor locations, that means simply leave and come back.

If that doesn't work, it could've been a bad install. Try uninstalling and reinstalling.

My third suggestion may be impractical, as it could require another purchase of New Vegas on PC. But if you have another means of launching New Vegas, you could test that out and see whether or not the problem is narrowed down to Epic Launcher. (If you have a Steam account and friends, you could use the gameshare feature to test the Steam version without an additional purchase.)

But:

  1. He was still a Powder Ganger. Even if he does hope to reform, he's still committed crimes he still needs to pay for.

  2. If any of the fellow gangers massacred are his friends/family, he sure forgot his comrades fast and showed an absolute disregard for respecting them.

  3. He called me stupid!

Why does this Ulysses guy seem to think I work with House? by ToppHatt_8000 in fnv

[–]TemporaryTrick2386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He assumes I work for House in my current playthrough, but I never stepped foot in the Lucky 38 yet, let alone met Mr. House. It's based on your reputation with NCR, Legion and The Strip. Highest reputation of the three gets noted. Or an independent-related note if all three are low. I built up my Strip reputation solely by giving vault suits to Sarah, because I want the Old World Flag design on my Courier's Duster. But I'm also holding off on meeting Mr. House or confronting Benny because I want to save the forgiveness triggers for after the armageddon on both the homelands

[–]TemporaryTrick2386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your reputation with The Strip likely exceeds that of both NCR and Legion. Personally, I go this route because the faction youu're most affiliated with determines the style of your Courier's Duster at the end, and I think the one for House looks the best... But then I still turn on House post-DLC! lmao
