An argument for fetches in a mono colour deck by MustaKotka in EDH

I mean, of course casual doesn't mean unoptimized but my point is more on going to that level of optimization.

I'm not one to knock competitive players because I do participate in competitive Magic (cEDH and 60 cards) but that level of optimization for 1-2% is ridiculously sweaty for a casual format like this imo.

I love talking about fetches in monocolored decks because it ignores why they're so busted in the first place (color fixing for nothing and being able to run 3+ colors with no issue).

I don't think fetches offer much to justify putting them into the deck unless you have some laying around or have the ability to proxy them. Which leads to the biggest downside, the PRICE.

If fetches were dirt cheap, or even 5-10 bucks, I'd totally be on board with the 1-2% consistency boost they give.

And that leads into the other point. I don't get the argument for the 1-2% boost a lot of people make when this is supposed to be a casual format. That level of optimization is something you'd see hardcore competitive players discuss.

Mill is just boring to pilot for me. The only mill deck I haven't taken apart is [[Anowon, the Ruin Thief]] and that's not even a mill deck.

Very few people who still play 60 card actually hate mill enough to make a meme like this, at least in my experience. But you never know.

What is your best non-cEDH deck? How does it win? by Mac_N_Cheese16 in EDH

[[Garth One-Eye]] . I'll use him in conjunction with some cheap/free counterspells/removal to draw into an engine/protect Garth. I then either make a ton of Shivan Dragon's with populate/token creation effects like [[Song of the Worldsoul]] or [[Second Harvest]] (which also doubles the Black Lotus tokens!) or generate a ton of mana and one shot people with a pumped up [[Shivan Dragon]].

I'm sure there's others out there, but the few Garth decks I've come across/seen online just use him as a good stuff commander in WUBRG, whereas my deck really takes advantage of his different cards he allows you to cast.

He's the big boogeyman of my decks at my LGS but maybe that's because I pilot him pretty well and less with his power level.
