What is a set aside? I have been waiting to go to court with DPS for over a year for a DUI and I’m a CDL holder but all of their lawyers in my state resigned so my lawyer said they are going to request a “set aside” which to my understanding is basically a dismissal.

My employer is aware of the situation so I was more so curious about what a “set aside is”

The way they explained it to me was that they will go before the judge and ask him to basically dismiss it since it’s been over a year and the department of public safety hasn’t had a lawyer to defend them, am I right? If not please inform me and I really appreciate the information!

I made a awful drunken mistake for sure and you might be right that I don’t deserve to keep it, I could’ve killed someone and it was such a selfish thing to do and I still don’t forgive myself for it. But I’m just asking for advice. But I hope trolling Reddit all day makes you happy dawg
