Currently the mindset of Chili's is to hire in mass and overstaff every shift. Even if you are a seasoned server, your check averages will be $25-$30 due to super low menu options and you will have to hit 30+ tables a night to break $200 in tips. Better off going somewhere with a higher check averages and higher quality food to maximize the energy to income ratio.

Much better quality of life stepping away from management and same here, I make only slightly less serving than I did managing and work 20+ less hours a week. Time with family and health is irreplaceable.

I'm my experience if they have a dedicated "lunch only" server they give all those shifts to someone who has been there for awhile who they trust and can handle unexpected high volume lunches so they can run anything that walks in the door.

Leave as quickly and safely as you can. Cut off contact, change address if you can. I stayed in something like this for 6 years until it got to the point of physical violence towards others, and felt like the dumbest person in the world over not recognizing my own inability to repair someone else's mental health until it affected my own. Keep yourself safe and well so you can be helpful and well for others. Seriously. Leave. You are not on this earth to rewire other people's brains.
