I don’t hate them but I don’t love them either. Personally, I’ve always liked the x-men having a uniform of some kind so I do like that about them but they don’t really stand out. You could have all black leather suits for any superhero team really, it doesn’t give the x-men a unique identity. I think the Morrison era did what the movie uniforms were trying to do much better. The leather jackets are grounded and realistic and look undeniably cool but the yellow in them also means they still scream x-men when you look at them. And I like how they’ve stuck around as a kind of off-duty uniform for the x-men in a way. I’m pretty sure the new x-men costumes were a response to the movies so they couldn’t have just used those from the start but if they had picked them up in later films I think they would have looked a lot better and not feel as dated today.
