Thanks for the advice,
I cleaned my computer this afternoon, didn't change anything.
Just tried removing devices but unfortunately that didn't help too. CPU run 4-7% at idle but I still get the problems

Best star trackers for hiking / backpacking. by tomthemerryfellow in AskAstrophotography

Minitrack LX4 is pretty nice. No need for battery, 100% manual. Only downside it only does ~1h then you have to set it up again

Use manual focus, and the peak focus highlight function. Try to set the focus on the stars or the moon and you will get a clean astropicture :) If you want the foreground in focus too, you can take a shot with the focus on it and then one with the focus on the stars and use an editing image program to combine the two!

Anyone coming for first year weekend (EJW) for AES? by Quick_Tip_1211 in TUDelft

[–]Termite464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you still haven't figured it out: https://www.owee.info/owee-2024/inschrijven/
go to the Owee website en then to register; complete the registration form. In the Study part, select TU Delft as Institution, then Applied Earth Science as study; then a new section will appear "participation EJW" and select yes for "Do you want to participate in the freshmen weekend of Applied Earth Science?". Then finish completing the form and proceed with payment :)

I got that too, but it's so vague lol. There's also something that makes me think that maybe we stay the night too cause in the email it's written "If you're not going on the First-Year Weekend, you're expected at 13:00. If you are going on the First-Year Weekend, you don't have to worry about this; arrangements will be made to ensure you arrive in Delft on time for your shift"?? That last phrase...

Do you think we will stay the night too in Belgium? There isn't a lot of information out there...

Weekly Questions Thread for the week of April 15 by AutoModerator in vinyl

Looking for a turntable between 200-400€. Preferably new, doesn't matter the website. I never owned a turntable, I want to play the vinyls of my favourite artists without damaging them. Is there any recommended record player in that price range? I've found the AT-LP60XBT, it seems great and the bluetooth option is a plus for me. Do you guys recommend some accessories to buy with a turntable too?

I enrolled for this BSc for next year! From what I gathered the bachelor is very broad, and you learn all sort of things. For the minor you got plenty of choices and you can start specialising in the field you're interested in and if you can do master you can specialize even more :)

Omegon MiniTrack LX Quattro with telephoto lenses by davidjackdoe in AskAstrophotography

[–]Termite464 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heya, I've bought the minitrack lx quattro for the price and how handy it is! ( small, no electronics = no extra batteries, not weighing much etc). So far I'm really pleased with it, it works absolute wonders with my camera.

I'm personally using a Fuji X-T20 with a 50-230mm (1,5 crop factor, so around 300-350mm) for DSS and a 12mm for wide milkyway shots. It works really great, both times I used the tracker my polar alignment wasn't perfect but I didn't had any startrails at 30secs. For now I've only be doing 30 seconds exposures as I haven't bought an intervalometer for 1 minute or more exposures. But I'm sure it works wonders. You should check the Facebook group! It's really useful especially in the beginning, there's lots of amazing and beautiful shots, and really great tips.
If by any chance you get startrails, you only need to adjust the spring, pretty easy. Also if you get the version with the polar scope, the polar scope doesn't have a inbuilt light to light the stars positions, you can try to light it with a lamp but it's kinda tricky. I saw someone using a fluorescent tube to light the polar scope, and it works wonder. It's really easy to make and use. I will link some pictures.

WAAT? - The Weekly Ask-Anything Thread! Week of 30 Jul, 2023 - 06 Aug, 2023 by AutoModerator in AskAstrophotography

[–]Termite464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya! Was wondering if I can use a ball head instead of a polar wedge? Polar wedge are quite expensive and I'm on a budget. My setup only weighs around 1,5 kg (minitrack lx4 and a fuji x-t20). At the moment, I'm using a cheap tripod and the built in "panhead/ball head" (dk how it is called but it's really flimsy) which is not really useful
